GLEANINGS FROM A FAMILY BIBLE

The following information was gleaned from a family Bible. There is no clue anywhere in

the book to the location of any of the people named but Hugh Bowman lived in County

Antrim, probably in Carrickfergus. The Bible is a large hide covered book printed In

1762. The flyleaf inscription is:

O 77i/s book was given as a present to Hugh Bowman by his friend (since ...) James Robinson AD 1922.

Between the Old and New Testaments the following is written:

Jane their daughter born June 8th 1768

Q Jane their daughter born July 23rd 1795

G Ann their daughter born July 17th 1799

G Thomas their son born May 3rd 1798 died 15th Oct 1818

G Henry born 11th June died eighteen months old

G Edward born 13th May 1804 died 10th May 1819

G Edward Dawson died 6th March 1816 aged 54 years

G Jane his wife died December 30th 1899 aged 71 years (SIC)

G Jane Ann daughter of John & Ann Whiteside bom May 1st 1835

G Edward Thomas their son bom March 29th 1840
