On his tours of Britain, and more recently of Canada and New York, every reviewer has extolled the dynamism and talent of this young man who has set the world of popular music a-flame with his searing rhythms and lyrics, backed up by the com- pelling beat of Jamaican Reggae. The Wailers first gained popularity with a song entitled "Simmer Down," a song written by Bunny i » ."Wailers" Livingston in 1964 and featured his voice. Other members included Peter Tosh, Beverly Kelso and Junior Braithwaite, the group's lead singer Bob Marley' was then residing in the U.S.A. with his mother. "Simmer Down" made it to the top on both radio stations. . During the period 1964-1966 the Wailers recorded such hits as "Lonesome Feeling", "Go Jimmy Go", "It hurts to be alone". These songs all made their way to the top of the charts and firmly established the'group as one of the best on the music scene in Jamaica. In 1966 the Wailers saV the departure of Beverly .Kelso and Junior Braithwaite. Bob Marley had returned from the U.S.A. and along with Peter Tosh and Bunny "Wailers" carried on the group.
