GOOD DESIGN AWARD, CHICAGO: Sahm regularly takes part in international

design contests with its glass designs. Cleveland, Madison and Sydney – just

three of the many types that won a Good Design Award, Chicago, which is

probably the world’s most renowned design contest.

CREATIVE GLASS DESIGN: Modern but timeless, functional but beau-

tiful – that is what regularly wins international prizes. After all, with their

timeless shape designs, our designers have developed a special level of

SENSORIK: The glasses are developed by Sahm together with Markus Del

Monego – first German World Champion Sommelier. With the creation of

the SENSORIK goblet and tumbler, glasses are available that provides neu-

tral and consistent results that can be compared in the sensory evaluation

of different beers.

As a second step, this important information can be used to design new

customised glasses, that suit the unique taste profile of a brand.

MARKUS DEL MONEGO: An expert gourmet and Master of Wine, judges

beers on their sensory qualities. The interplay between a beer and its froth

also plays an important role in its flavor. A beer without a head will always

seem milder than a beer with a large head. (see:www.tastedesign.de).

In close cooperation with Sahm, a variety of glasses were developed, each

specifically designed to give the best in beer enjoyment.

TASTE DESIGN: The selection of the proper drinking glass is of decisive

importance for a beer to be able to develop its own very individual taste.

Whether it‘s a tankard, a tumbler or a goblet, a glass should always match

the type of beer it holds. Sahm has a huge variety of different glassware to

enjoy a virtually unlimited range of beers.

BENCHMARK: THE MEASURE OF GREAT TASTE!

A benchmark offers a reliable index for comparing the flavor and the com-

plex sensory properties of a beer. It can be used to define aroma, visual ap-

peal and even the properties that characterize a beer’s flavor, all of which

are essential for shaping and designing the proper glass, and thus also for

enjoying the final product.

In addition, the beer is taste-tested by a number of experienced experts

who summarize, interpret and then analyze their results. If necessary, cor-

rections are made to this (first) benchmark to furhter improve the flavor.

Only then are the sensory criteria carefully evaluated on the basis of their

specific intensity and entered into the final benchmark.

A benchmark is depicted using what is called a “spider web” that captures

the elementary parameters making up a beer’s flavor, such as sweetness,

bitter or malty ingredients.

SAHM UV DECORA plastic color is cured under UV light after each printing. Among the merits: No heavy metals are needed and there is a huge range of different colors to choose from.

SAHM AUTOMATEDPRINTINGSahm can efficiently produce even complex decorations with its eight-color silkscreen printing line. Suitable for lo-gos and promotional decors.

SAHM THERMO PRINTSahm thermo are decorative glazes that change color depending on what the glass is filled with (hot or cold). The result can be a number of truly “magical“ effects.

SAHM DECALTransfers are only used todayfor complicated decors and / or glass shapes as here on the bottom. The motifs are trans-ferred manually to the glass and then fired onto it.

SAHM COLOR COATINGSahm color coating is a plastic coat in which organic glazes are sprayed directly onto the glass and than printed over in up to several colors.

SAHM SPECIAL GOLDOR PLATINUMGlass decoration with valuable precious metals can ornament a company logo or the rim. Glazes with a proportion of genuine precious metals are used for this process.

SAHM FROSTED DECORBy treating the glass in acidicimmersion baths, the surface of the glass is lightly rough-ened. A matting effect is cre-ated in which decors appear more velvety.

OVERSIZES: Whether it‘s a friend-

ship glass (for drinking in rounds) at a

catering establishment, a fan glass in a

brewery shop or a prize in a loyalty pro-

motion – oversized versions of originally
