GIVING INSTRUCTION(COMMANDS and REQUEST)
Giving instruction can be called as Command or request. Command is order given to a person. Request is the action of asking for
and something formally and politely. Commands and request used when
we want someone to do something or in certain condition
GIVING INSTRUCTION
Examples: Go. Be careful. Come here. Close the door. Write your name, please. Sit down.
Requests
Examples: Sit down, please. Be there, please. Can you open the door, please? Would you come here, please? Close the window, please. Stand up, please.
PROHIBITION Ask someone not to do something.
Examples: Don’t go. Don’t eat here. Don’t sit on the table. Don’t wait here, please.
Example:
Budi : Clean the board, please. Hasan : No problem.
Cici : Dian, come here, please. Dian: Right away.
Notes
We usually start giving command by using verb.
Examples: Open Stand up Move Take Put Read
When we need help, say “please”.
Sit down, please. Take your pen, please. Open your book, please. Do number 1 and 3, please.
Notes How do you ask people to do
something?Start with a verb. This verb is called
“imperative verb”.If you don’t want people to do
something, start with “don’t”.

How would you give response?
Say: Yes, Ma’am. Okay, Ma’am. Sure. Alright. Right away, Ma’am. No problem
Examples: Mrs. Santi : Open your book, please. Students : Yes, Ma’am.
Gita : Clean the board, please. Keisha : Sure.
Ms. Yulia : Look at the picture, please. Hera : Okay, Ma’am.
