CHALK TALK

Dear families,

Well being A few staff attended our last Berry Street session on Monday. It was great to finalise the professional development and continue planning for 2018. In this session we spoke about character strengths and how important it is to focus on the positives and promote strengths in children at home and at school. This learning links in with our whole school goals of building a positive climate and learning environment for all students. Reminders We have had a few students roller blading and riding scooters around the school in the morning and after school. Due to safety, we ask that students please restrain from doing this during school hours. End of Year The end of the year is almost here and each class has lots of exciting things happening. The Christmas concert is on Wednesday 20th of December where students are invited to wear Christmas attire. On Friday, we will have our final assembly for the year where we will celebrate and farewell our year 6 students. This is a day where all students are expected to be in full uniform please. 2018 It has been exciting seeing all of the students working in their new classrooms for 2018 and meeting their teachers during our transition sessions. Things are in place for the students to finish the year with end of year celebrations next week and a positive start for 2018. The 2018 prep students had their last transition session on Tuesday. It was great to see so many parents at our information session where we had Kellie Conroy (Chiropractor) speak about how we can support our children with choosing and carrying the correct backpack. Support was offered by Kate Tabone with the payment system for the school and Julie Soutter shared some information regarding Raising Concerns and how to have a smooth transition for students. We look forward to welcoming our whole school to our ‘Welcome picnic and parent information sessions’ which will be held in February 2018. 2018 Dates Monday January 29th Student Free Day Tuesday January 30th Curriculum Day (No students required) Wednesday January 31st Years 1-6 Start (Prep testing interviews) Thursday February 1st Years 1-6 (Prep testing interviews) Friday February 2nd Years 1-6 (Prep testing interviews) Monday February 5th Prep to 6 (Prep students finish at 1:25pm) Tuesday February 6th Prep to 6 (Prep students finish at 1:25pm) Wednesday February 7th Years 1 to 6 (Prep testing interviews) Thursday February 8th Prep to 6 Full day Please note: Prep students will commence full time from Monday 26th February. Prep Interview times and days will be organised over the January holidays where families will receive an email and

invitation to make a booking online. This will be 45min – 60 min per child with their classroom teacher for 2018. Students

will complete initial testing which will provide indicators for the prep staff.

Regards, Lisa Maxwell

A Christmas Poem

The huge angel so gentle and magical

The Christmas concert had juice

It was so peaceful

There were princesses everywhere so fancy and magical

Oh, how good was this peaceful Christmas

The giant celebration

It was huge and gentle so soft and graceful

Everyone celebrated even the police – of course they took part

It, the concert of peace

Christmas was the biggest celebration of all

The 25th was so special

The joyful faces of all the kids receiving the presents from Saint Nick

The angels danced around making the joyful celebration…

Even better than it was.

WORKING BEE Dear families,

We will be holding two working bees at school on the following days:

This Sunday 17th December from 10am and

Sunday 21st January from 10am

We would love families to bring the kids and some gardening equipment and join us on one or both days! If you can only spare an hour or so that would still be greatly appreciated! We understand it is a busy time of year but many hands

make light work!

We hope to be doing some installation of a watering system on the 17th of December.
