GIS ProjectsStatewide GIS based Web enabled Environment Database of GujaratGujarat Ecology Commission (GEC) prepared a State Environmental Action Program (SEAP) funded by World Bank. 8 Technical Working Groups (TWGs) worked on specific aspects of the State ecology and have collected a huge information base over a period of 3 years. The data was collected through in-depth study of specific components of Gujarats environment over a period of 5 years by some of the well-known Institutions of India including Tata Energy Research Institute (TERI), Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Operation Research Group (ORG), National Environmental Engineering Institute (NEERI), Centre for Environmental Planning & Technology (CEPT), Gujarat Ecology Society etc. This Statewide Environmental database is put on the web for the first time in India. Consists of data on Industrial Pollution, Urbanization, Degradation of Land, Water, Biodiversity, Coastal and Marine Environment, Wetlands and EnergyThe Web based GIS enabled Environment Database is one of the first and largest of its kind in India. The project included environmental mapping of Gujarat State (more than 300 maps with around 2000 attribute tables) + Maps of 26 districts, 274 talukas, & 18000+ villages of Gujarat StateThe project was a 75-man month effort. GIS ProjectsGIS based AM/FM cum Emergency Response System including citywide surveyA citywide 160 km long x 12 km wide corridor survey of industrial gas pipeline for New Delhi city having an area of more than 1400 sq. km. was carried out using Total Station, GPS etc. for Gas Authority of India Ltd. (GAIL) - a leading oil & gas utility company in India. The base map of New Delhi city was at a scale of 1:20,000. The objectives of this project were: 1) Effective Operation and Maintenance (O&M) 2) Aid in emergencies (Emergency Response System) like pipeline leak or burst. 3) Disaster Management. 4) Apart from GAIL the information from this system will be of use to other departments like Telecommunications, DDA, GDA (for laying water, sewage-lines), Delhi Electricity Supply Undertaking. About 150 feature themes were included in the GIS. This was a 60-manmonth exercise and was a first in the country.A 50 m wide corridor survey was conducted for land and other structures along the entire stretch of 160 kms. The pipeline and other structures are identified in Latitude and Longitude and in meters also in x, y plot in the map. The pipeline position is indicated in the maps from the nearest roads, structures, landmarks etc.The purpose was to serve as a) GIS based Emergency Response System & b) Operation & Maintenance System (O&M)

GIS ProjectsGIS for Resettlement & Rehabilitation (R&R) MIS for US$ 12 billion rivervalley projectA GIS based MIS for Sardar Sarovar Punarvasvat Agency (SSPA) was carried out in association with TCS.The aim was to have an MIS which would cater to Supreme Court reporting requirements at the same time give a tool for planning as well as honourable judges to visualise the implications on number of villages and the population affected by submergence due to progressive clearance for construction of the Sardar Sarovar (Narmada) dam upto specific heights. A GIS based MIS for Resettlement & Rehabilitation of Project Affected Families due to submergence of villages of Sardar Sarovar Project was developed. The project area covered 88000 sq.km. of catchment area (450 SOI maps) and about 120 downstream R&R (community) sites. The project was done in capacity as GIS Advisor, SSPA, Government of Gujarat.

GIS ProjectsRevenue Land Records & Right of Use (ROU) for 1000 km oil pipeline projectThousands of land records of more than 500 villages were verified and field (joint measurement) books created in CAD after Total Station/ GPS survey on site for about 1000 kms oil pipeline project from Mundra to Bhatinda. The records were updated for acquiring Right of Use (ROU) under Petroleum, Mining & Pipeline (PMP) Act of Govt. of India. The compensation was to be paid to the owners after observing the legal notification procedure laid down by the Act.
