From ten to ve girls in cross country, these girls explain how cross country isn’t the hardest thing to do! As many of us think cross country is all about distance and time, which it is. But these ladies explain to us that even if you aren’t great at running distance it is good for other sports, transportation, and even therapy! Of course everyone is dierent, but from the girls experiences they seem to have agreeable statements from the interviews! In response to the small team, sophomore Emmerie Roth states, “It is better than one person!” ough being on a team of ve can cause internal stress, senior London Scott suggests, “having more girls on the team would cause more competition and make us work harder, not necessarily cause more stress.” Senior Anna Gra says that there isn’t a lot of competition between the girls and boys out for cross country, “but in practice when the guys and us play tag, things get real.” Freshman Emmalee Hall adds, “Sometimes the guys push to sprint in front of us.” Even though in practice they get better at running times and distance, Scott concludes, “It’s not about the competition; it’s about you and your well being.” ough there are only the ve girls on the team this year, Scott remembers the last few years and says, “It was fun with more girls on the team!” Gra had some encouraging words for those afraid to join cross country, “It looks or feels intimidating, but the team is encouraging and, of course, fun to be around!” Freshman Shelby Stevens then adds, “It’s denitely a mental sport, but it is fun and there is a lot of honesty on the team.” 10 Sports September/October | Stampede 2014 Chloe Dixon Sports Editor [email protected] Girls’ Cross Country Five Girls Against The World When you hear, "MINE!, MINE!, MINE!", what do you think? Volleyball is the first thing that goes through most peoples minds. It takes patience, time, and dedication just like every other sport. Volleyball you need to be on your toes and be able to communicate with your teammates. Watching volleyball is very entertaining to watch says 8 out of 10 people. is year McCook Bison has a new coach! Dennis Troester is one of the top 10 Nebraska coaches that had already been recognized. He has had 504 victories and counting! We have many fans of your McCook Bison Volleyball and many family supporters of the girls. e current team members seem to believe that they have already improved from last year. e girls seem to think the changes that have been made from last year is strongly improving their performance. Hopefully in years to come we can be undefeated! Our girls push themselves so far and many say it is a passion not just a sport. Many people may agree.
