Girls and Women with ASD This presentation will celebrate the unique presentation of girls and women on the autism spectrum (ASD). It will increase awareness and knowledge of the female presentation of ASD and share strategies we find useful in clinical practice. We will address key challenges, including self-understanding, adolescence, relationships and expressing and managing emotions. We will provide strategies to maximise the possibility of successful outcomes. The presentation is for parents and family members, counsellors, GPs, occupational therapists, paediatricians, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, speech pathologists, teachers and teacher’s assistants. Prof. Tony Awood PhD is an internationally recognised clinical psychologist, educator, and author. Recently featured on ABC’s Australian Story, Tony is one of the world’s foremost authorities on autism. His book Asperger’s Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals is an international best seller and seminal in the field. Dr Michelle Garne PhD is a clinical psychologist and Founder and Director of Minds & Hearts, a clinic specialising in Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). Michelle has co-authored four books on ASD, including three books with Tony. Her most recent book, Spectrum Women: Walking to the Beat of Autism, was co-authored with Barb Cook and 14 other women on the Spectrum. For cancellations: Up to 7 days notice payment will be refunded, minus a $50 administrative fee. At less than 7 days notice there will be no refund, but a credit note with Attwood and Garnett Events for future events, minus $50, will be issued. Attendance is fully transferable.
