What is Skype?

Skype allows users to communicate with peers by voice using a microphone, video by using a webcam, and instant messaging over the internet.

Step 1: Install Skype on your computer

1). Go to www.skype.com , select Get Skype to download (it should be country and language specific, e.g. for the USA,:

Windows XP, Vista, 7 Windows 8

1). Open the downloaded file, open and click Yes

2) Select your language then click on I agree

3) Select Continue for next two steps (Skype Click to Call and Bing search engine are both optional)

Step 2: Make a Skype account If you DON’T have Windows Live, Facebook or Skype account, follow “Step 2” If you already have one of the above, go to “Step 3”

Go to www.skype.com and select Sign In from top right-hand corner of the page

Select Create an account tab

Step 2: Make a Skype account Enter your First Name, Last Name and Email Address

Enter the required fields (Country/Region and Language)

Step 2: Make a Skype account Enter your Skype Name and Password

Type the text shown within the box then select I agree

Step 2: Make a Skype account You should see a following screen if you’ve successfully created your Skype account

* Your account name

Step 3: Open Skype

Enter your Skype Name and Password (Refer to slide 8 if you forgot what the Skype Name and its password is)

Step 4: Setup the Speaker, Microphone and Video

You should be able to hear a sound when you press this

You should be able to see green bar moving up and down when you speak to your microphone

You should be able to see yourself on the screen

Step 6: Add Contact

From toolbar, go to Contacts then select Add Contact

Enter the following information then select Add

Target’s Email

Target’s Phone number

Target’s Full name

Target’s Skype Name

Step 7: Make a video call

Select your target and click on Video call
