Whole-Brain Synergy12. Fly! • Beginning right-brain memory and speed reading games - a gentle transition to Wink™

The final TweedleWink technique is a graduation step to the Wink program. Wink integrates the left and the right hemispheres of the brain with seven simple steps:

Step 1: Alpha RelaxationStep 2: Eye ExercisesStep 3: PhotoEyeplayStep 4: Mental ImagingStep 5: Observation TrainingStep 6: Memory LinkingStep 7: Photographic Memory and Speed Reading

1 Our FoundationWhat is TweedleWink?TweedleWink is based upon Drs. Ornstein and Sperry’s Nobel-prize-winning split-brain research and subsequent theories and accelerated learning techniques.

TweedleWink uses a heart-based philosophy to teach just about everything to children of all ages, but especially early childhood when the learning window is wide open.

What is Right Brain Education? There are two sides of your brain: a right side, and a left. They are connected by a “bridge” — a band of nervefibers called the corpus callosum. Each side hasa distinct personality.

The right side is creative and emotional. The left side is logical and practical. The corpus callosum “bridge” allows these hemispheres to work together harmoniously to do just about anything we set our minds to.

2 Inspired EnvironmentEvery TweedleWink Play House features a relaxed, cozy space—for your child to learn.

By establishing a place of comfort for learning, we become intimately acquainted with your child’s needs.

The cheerier, more comforting it is, the easier it will be for your child to relax and enjoy learning.

Right-brain children tend to be highly-sensitive and react (positively and negatively) to many nuances that adults may not think much about.

We pay attention to the “feel” of our classroom, including the...

• textiles• climate • wall decor• colors • lighting• fresh air • music• plants • thoughts/feelings

3 Curriculum “The things a child sees are not just remembered... they become a part of his soul.”

—Maria Montessori

Your child’s brain is actively building neural connections based on every thing he sees, hears, observes and does. TweedleWink enrichment activities make the most of this time with a loving boost of learning experiences.

Right Brain BuildersTechnique 1: Love

Respectful Relationships We begin each day by affirming positivity and integrity with your child. We listen. We care. Small thoughtful acts and meaningful

moments build trust. This foundation is vital for all learning that your child has while in our care.

Positive AffirmationsHow adults view and speak about children is important. Daily lessons begin and end with loving affirmations, such as... “You are loved.” “You are special.” “You can achieve your highest potential!”

Technique 2: Image

VisualizationPositive mental and emotional images can build your child’s self-esteem, IQ and EQ. In addition to boosting your child’s self-image, we encourage parents to take a moment at home each day to visualize your child as both happy and healthy—imagine a positive future for your family.

Visualizations are used for educational and emotional boosts throughout the day. They are an important aspect of right-brain learning.

Technique 3: Flash

Flashcards, Books, Manuals, EncyclopediasYour child’s right brain is like a sponge. Our TweedleWink curriculum makes the most of this by flashing cards to your child to build a vast sub-conscious mental library.

We cover a wide variety of topics with flashcards—everything from vocabulary to science, math to music, art and more! Later, when the information is presented in graduated lessons, they tend to feel quite comfortable with it, and learn with greater ease.

VocabularyVocabulary-building is boosted through a unique 3-step picture-word presentation designed to teach both spelling, meaning and context. Each month, your child will be exposed to a wide range of words and encyclopedic knowledge.

World CulturesYour child will travel the world! Each month, your child will learn a new international language, geography, food, music, indigenous crafts, traditional dress and more from a new country from around the world.

MusicMusic stirs the soul and raises the spirit. Your child will learn about composers, classical music, instruments of the symphony orchestra, perfect pitch training with tuning forks, sound play with animal communication, bird calls and nature sounds.

LanguageReading and writing skills are introduced through a combination of phonics, whole words (sight words), poetry, speed reading phrases and sentence play. With this early training children can read at a much earlier age.

MathOur right-brain math curriculum is stress-free and powerful. We focus on quantity play, equations, skip-counting and pattern recognition.

ScienceYour child will enjoy quality systematic exposure to the fundamentals of: • biology • anatomy,• astronomy • geology• zoology • cosmology,• herbology • oceanography• chemistry • physics ...and more!

ArtArt is quite important in right-brain training. We believe that exposure to the select works of famous artists of history helps shape—and elevate—a child’s sense of beauty. It’s both inspiring and educational. We feature fine art as well as international indigenous arts and crafts.

Technique 4: Listen

World Languages Each month, we will feature a new country in the world, which includes a fun exposure to it’s language through music and word play. Your child will travel the world through imagination play, practicing new words and expressions.

Classical Music and Perfect Pitch Music and pitch can be learned effectively in childhood. We play classical music during lesson time or in the background as your child plays.

Our gross motor play room will feature musical selections so that your child’s understanding, appreciation of and familiarity with famous world composers will grow each month.Tuning forks, Montessori bells and tuners are used as a fun way to teach pitch.

“Bridge” BuildersTechnique 5: Talk

Conversation Respectful conversation is fostered throughout the day. Children learn how to use their words effectively, with kindness and compassion.

Social skills are used in team-building and personal interactions with other children. We give your child words and feelings to match what he may be seeing or experiencing.

Technique 7: Move

Right-Left Movement • Balance • StrengthYour child’s brain is intimately connected with his or her whole body. The central nervous system thrives on movement—especially that which synchronizes the right and left side of the body.

Yoga Ball FunWe tone your child’s muscles while strengthening a sense of balance with TweedleWink Yoga Ball exercises.

Left Brain BuildersTechnique 8: Think

Excitingly inviting educational lessons encourage your child to choose a lesson off of the shelf—and to explore the environment, as well as everything in it. Our materials are designed to excite and engage your child’s thinking skills.

Puzzles Montessori puzzles help reinforce key educational concepts presented at lesson time. Children love them.

Matching Games In TweedleWink, matching games are a great follow up to TweedleWink flashcards. They serve as a powerfully playful way to bring all the information stored in right-brain memory to left-brain practical use.

And, besides... they’re fun!

Technique 9: Draw

Shapes, Letters, Words and Pictures In TweedleWink, we teach children to draw shapes, then letters (according to our phonics system) and pictures.

Technique 10: Do

Arts and Crafts Children learn so much through art: fine motor skills, use of color, appreciation, and patience. Each day, your child will enjoy a thoughtful craft based on: • science • vocabulary • world artisans • world cultures

Montessori Practical Life Lessons Maria Montessori believed that children need every opportunity to do things by themselves, with guidance from a patient adult. Practical life lessons teach children how to pour, spoon, measure, sort and more.

Technique 11: Read

Independent Reading We’ll assess your child’s reading level and strengthen it through an understanding of phonics and basic sight words. Once your child masters phonics, he begins to put them together as words and, before you know it, he is reading! Your child will have direct access to two exclusive TweedleWink book series:

“Sam the Elf” Phonics Readers Enjoy word-building with Sam the Elf stories.

Smiley “Great Me” Children’s StoriesEnjoy character-building

with Smiley, Sara and their many adventures. These whimsical stories teach family values, healthy habits, respect and self-control.

Activity BooksYour child will master his understanding of phonics and math through independent reading and workbooks. (We call them “playbooks”!)

TweedleWink Phonics PlaybooksThis delightful series presents the 30 phonic sounds, encouraging your child to write, say, and practice them in a simple matching game.

TweedleWink Math PlaybooksEarly math activity books should be inviting and fun! The TweedleWink playbooks fill the bill, teaching your child how to count, match, add and subtract. These math-readiness books will help your child form positive feelings about math from the start.

Whole Brain SynergyTechnique 12: Fly!

Wink The final TweedleWink technique is a graduation step to the Wink program. Wink integrates the left and the right hemispheres of the brain.

Our Wink program allows your child to gently:

(1) activate the right brain pathway so that a very high absorption of material is maintained

(2) use the flow of information between the right and left hemispheres in accelerated learning techniques, such as photographic memory and speed reading

Graduation to Wink!

Whole-Brain SynergyWink games are fun. These right-brain memory and speed reading games are a breeze... when gently and systematically eased into your child’s schedule.

Wink has 7 exciting steps.

Note to Parents: Wink’s 7-step speed reading program is used with great care—the final step (speed reading) presented only when your preschooler is actively reading, independently. (If we begin the Wink lessons too early, we can stress your child, producing the opposite effect.)

WINK Step 3: PhotoEyeplay

The Camera for the Mind Wink PhotoEyeplay is a unique visual process which stimulates the ability to see an object’s after-image, or negative photographic image. This activates key vision centers used for photographic memory.

WINK Step 4: Mental Imaging

Magic Carpet RidesYour child’s mind is the laboratory of his soul’s expression of genius. Once mental imaging ability is developed, your child can use his (or her) mind to play-out and test ideas before creating them materially—like Leonardo daVinci, Nicola Tesla and Albert Einstein!

WINK Step 1: Alpha Relaxation

Right Brain Creative ConnectionYour child will learn the process of calming the senses, centering the body and adjusting the thought waves to an alpha wave frequency in order to access the creative universe of the mind.

WINK Step 2: Eye Exercises

Speed Reading ReadinessEye exercises strengthen your child’s ability to focus, increase scanning speed, accelerate memory retrieval, integrate the right and left hemispheres of the brain, and heighten the senses.

WINK Step 5: Memory Linking

Right-Brain Memory Sequence Your child will learn a fun memory technique called memory linking. Memory linking consists of learning to recall many items, in a specific order, without the drudgery of rote memorization. This is a very practical study skill for use in all future learning.

WINK Step 6: Observation Training

The Power of DetailsObservation Training is the means of training your child to see more details in everyday life. The more details your child consciously perceives, the more vivid is his (or her) recollection.

Your child will learn how to slow down and “freeze” an actual (or mental) image to notice the subtleties of color, size, shape, and quantity.

WINK Step 7: Photographic Memory & Speed Reading

Photographic MemoryOur Wink photographic memory lessons are as powerful as they are playful. Your child will learn how to increase his “flash picture memory”—remembering several items at once, in order or at random. This type of instant memory is considered to be more right brain, and fosters creativity and intuition in learning.

Speed ReadingSpeed reading games are presented gradually, as your child’s basic reading ability increases. Speed reading is dependent upon a child’s ability to successfully slow read. Our children’s reading corner is jam-packed with adventures!
