• On a flash/thumb/pen drive, zip disk, or the hard drive of your computer, create 2 “folders”:

• gcu674– Where you’ll store the pages you create

before you “publish” them to the web

• gcu674images– Where you’ll store graphics you place on

your webpage

Publishing a web page

• Creating a set of files that uses a common communication protocol (html)

• And placing it on a “server”…a computer that can provide access to your file from other computers

4. Publish your page: clients & servers

Servers: computers that provide access to files

Clients: computers that are networked so they can receive files

Publishing aweb page ASU’s public web space:

“AFS space” or “M drive”

• Set up your AFS space so it can “serve up” web pages

• Copy the files you’ve created to your web space
