Getting Ready for a Showing All your hard work is done and you’re ready for Showings! When you receive a con9irmation text, phone-call or email that a showing is booked here is what you need to do to prepare: • Open-up window coverings • Store bathroom garbage bin, hand soaps, personal items, etc. away • All dishes are clean and put away or are in the dishwasher • Dirty laundry is in a hamper • Take out the garbage with you, when you leave...smells are the biggest turn-off at a showing. • A lite baking smell from a Scentsy, works well • Remove mats throughout the home, except the front foyer • Ensure beds are tightly made (think hotel linens) • Ensure all personal items/valuables are stored away – this includes toiletries, jewelry/money, bills, calendars, items that may be attached to your fridge (front and sides) • Remove dog/cat beds • Crate Kitties or Puppies if they will not be going with you for the showing • Ensure ALL lights are on..this includes the upper, main and lower levels of your house, as well as front and back exterior (porch) lights. The Realtor showing your home will usually turn off the lights when they are done • Playing soft “elevator” music is a nice touch • Turn on the Scentsy or spray a light vanilla scent (Febreeze) before you head out And a helpful hint – if you are leaving for work or will be away during the day/ evening, always leave your home ready, just in case there is a showing request while you are out. You do not have to leave the lights on, but have your home in a ready-to- show state. www.the-reps.ca
