1. Adjective: Function

• Adjectives are descriptive words• In writing, effective adjective usage would aid

your readers in connecting with your story.• Effective adjective usage FEEDS the

IMAGINATION of readers.

Adjectives• The grubby little boy and girl were intensely searching for

something which they could play with. Surrounded by things which people don’t need anymore; empty packets, plastic bottles, rusty metal, these poor children ploughed through the waste, hoping to stumble upon something thrown away-accidentally.

Versus

• The two poor children looked through the items at the rubbish-dumping site. They hoped to find something which have been thrown away accidentally.

• He’s a quiet man, we do not know anything about him-He’s a quiet, mysterious man.
