T he Catalina 270 was designed to pro-vide rewarding performance and comfortableaccommodations for the active sailing family.

Both goals are accomplished through theselection of a stable hull form with generousbeam and fine entry forward. This approachdelivers a hull that is wide at the sheer formaximum deck space, reserve buoyancy andgood performance to weather.

Semi-elliptical wing and fin keels arematched with a balanced elliptical rudder toinsure predictable handling and a balancedhelm in a variety of conditions.

The rig has double spreaders with foreand aft lowers which make the mast very sta-ble, easy to set up and tune. This design pro-vides the narrow shroud base necessary forproper genoa sheeting to weather.

The deck is highlighted by a "big boat"cockpit with Catalina's hallmark full lengthcockpit seats with ergonomically contouredseat backs necessary for long term comfortaboard.

Common to all Catalinas is well plannedand installed plumbing, electrical, andmechanical systems. All consist of qualitycomponents and are arranged for easy ownermaintenance.

In the cabin are all the amenities for week-end retreats and more extended family vaca-tions. Comfortable seating around the var-nished teak table provides a great place formeals, relaxing, reading or playing games.

The galley is well planned for the cook,with special attention given to convenient,usable storage. You’ll find a large ice box,and flip up counter over the two burnerstove.

The head is a single piece molded unitthat is easy to keep clean and fresh. In thesole is a standard shower pan.

By night the aft cabin is a private andcomfortable retreat for two. The berth for-

ward can be extended and enclosed for two,with the settees functioning well as singleberths.
