  THE CHALLENGE

Grassroots    Varsity  HD’s  coverage  of  high  school  sports  begins  in  local  communities  at  the  grassroots  level.    Families  inform  local  and  out-­‐of-­‐town  relatives  and  friends  that  they  can  listen  to  a  particular  sporting  event  on  the  Internet  at  varsityhd.com.

Varsity  HD  Highlight  Hits  ESPN    Varsity  HD’s  coverage  of  the  Quincy  vs.  Duxbury  boys  high  school  basketball  game  provided  a  highlight  that  even  ESPN  wanted  a  piece  of.  Tyler  Beach’s  (QHS)  3/4-­‐court  buzzer  beater  gave  Quincy  the  lead  going  into  the  half.  That  shot  sparked  a  “stellar  second  half  effort”  by  Quincy  who  would  end  up  with  a  convincing  win.    Due  to  the  high  number  of  requests  and  tweets  from  fans  throughout  the  south  shore,  and  from  students  at  high  schools  all  over,  ESPN  contacted  Varsity  HD  for  the  highlight  video  to  post  on  their  website.      

A  Big  Boost  From  Social  Media    Social  Media  websites  such  as  twitter,  Facebook  &  YouTube  have  played  a  big  part  in  Varsity  HD  gaining  traction  in  just  a  few  short  months.      Social  media  engagement  got  students,  coaches  and  newspapers  talking  about  Varsity  HD,  which  led  to  an  increase  in  listeners  and  web  site  visitors.
