Michael Featherstone emeritus Headmaster grew up on the coast near country Durham; he had 3 brothers and two sisters. Melinda and Charles, Mike’s parents had jobs as the local florist. From a young age, Michael had deep interest in travelling and would travel to the coast line to reflect upon who and what he wanted to become which resulted in the desire to become a local school teacher, and further progress to the rank of Head Master of a prestigious school.  Michael graduated and attended university in London to gain a teaching degree.

After graduation Michael applied for teaching position in various schools but could not succeed. Six months later he was appointed at a junior position in the Barnard Castle School, co-educational independent day and boarding school in the market town of Barnard Castle, County Durham, in the North East of England. Michael with his hard efforts got the position of deputy headmaster after two years thus having a successful teaching career in 1997.
