Founded by Tina and Manuela, ImageLab was set up from their experience in the industry and with other professionals who are keen to utilise their knowledge to promote a new era of fashion professionals. We professionally craft workshops in the art of fashion, introducing students with renowned market leaders to develop their skills and become a successful and creative artist in their own right.
Our unique courses are based in Manchester, acting as a hub for students from all over the world. After your nine months with us here at ImageLab, we will still be available for one-to- one support to help you progress within your chosen field of work, we’re here to help!

Our General
Our General English course aims to improve every aspect of English so that students can communicate effectively with speakers from across the globe. Our approach is to provide a stimulating and highly interactive environment in which can develop their language skills in combination with the professional courses. The second part of the course is structured by communicative, interactive and vocabulary rich English for Fashion which makes full use of the course as
an international fashion hub.
Outcomes:
1. You will improve your language skills in reading and speaking. 2. Boost both your confidence, and your CV, to make it
easier for you to communicate in English with colleagues & clients alike.
3. Build your vocabulary, punctuation and fluency in general English and your chosen field of study.
4. You will be equipped with the essential fashion terminology, helping you to succeed on an international stage.
5. Network with other students and professionals from around the world.
An Intensive course of 15 hours per week for 9 months. An intensive English course which incorporates 2 modules • General English Communication Skills • Professional English • Preparation for CPD Certificate • The grammatical structures and vocabulary of a range
of topics is including: Working in Fashion, History of Fashion, Textiles, art Production, Promotion, Events, Retail.
• Role-plays, case studies and projects all help students work towards real language progress in this specialized field.

Our Make Up Artistry
Fashion Photography
Photography is a vital part of creativity within the fashion industry, and our dedicated fashion photography course will provide unique training that will help you towards becoming a photographer in the fashion world.
Modules include:
• Introduction to Photography Equipment • Introduction to Fashion Photography • Introduction to Advertising Photography • Introduction to Editorial Photography • Interdisciplinary Studies • Commercial Digital Production • Client Brief • Professional Practice & Professional
Development • Critical Analysis
Outcomes:
1. Understand the relationship between photography theory, practice and its contexts;
• Manipulate images using Photoshop • Manage a photo-shooting session and the
choice of the location, dealing also with models and other professionals involved.
2. Plan the entire creative process, from the idea to its implementation.
3. Apply visual language to research: interpret, revise and structure ideas.
4. Develop a range of critical and technical skills that lead to the professional presentation of a fashion photography and film project.
Fashion Styling & Art Direction Working across a range of technical practices, our Fashion Styling & Art Director course will provide you with the skills needed to develop your own style and unique aesthetic, teaching the fundamentals of styling and image making in the process.
Modules include:
• Design Fundamentals: Process, Interpretation and Development
• Fashion Styling and Image Generation • Introduction to Fashion Techniques • Styling and Image Making Specialism • Techniques in Fashions Photography • Fashion Image Making & Styling • Styling and Image Making: Comparative Shoot • Exploring Creative Contexts: Fashion • Independent Research Project: Business
Practice for Fashion Image Making & Styling
Outcomes:
1. Develop mental imagery, inventiveness, aesthetic sensibility, personal taste and visual culture.
2. Identify, research, interpret and develop styling concepts working with composition, taste and style, with relevance to current and future trends.
3. Manage all elements and processes behind the creation of a styled image.
4. Develop a strong personal style to showcase in a wide cross-media portfolio.
5. Work with creative directors, designers, photographers and art directors to produce professional and innovative imagery.
6. Create dynamic and visual communications via multi-disciplinary practices.
7. Develop a personal taste and style by feeling the spirit of the times, moving beyond aesthetic conventions.
8. Examine the theory behind visual communication, art, language, architecture, sociology, anthropology, semiotics and advertising.
9. Develop original formats and creative outcomes that provide engaging experiences for multiple audiences.
10. Critique and evaluate creative solutions in terms of their suitability to the original brief, advertising message, environment, ethical context and target audience.
Ran by make up artistry pros, this course contains various modules including media, editorial, fashion, commercial and even prosthetics. Keeping up with all of the latest trends and techniques, you will work alongside students on set from other ImageLab courses such as photographers and stylists, so you can understand what it takes to create a flawless image.
Modules include:
• Make-up Studies – Learning the basics • Period Make-up – 19th & 20th century fashions • Contemporary & Avant Garde Make-up Techniques • Hair Styling Studies • Photo Shoot Session & Practical Assessment
Outcomes:
1. Have a thorough understanding of the principles of colour theory, and know how to use it to create better artistry.
2. Analyse the models skin and know how to use the correct skincare and make-up preparations for their individual skin type; tone and condition.
3. Apply make-up creatively to a high standard that will fulfil the brief objectives for either; camera ready, beauty or high fashion looks suitable for both live events and live action/ stills shoot purposes.
4. Using a range of creative techniques, create a period or contemporary make-up and hairstyle within a realistic time-frame for commercial purposes.
5. Be able to confidently create make-up and hair styles for a wide range of ethnicities and cultures, and periods of history.
6. Be competent at male grooming and corrective work for live action of stills shoots.
7. Be able to create a range of special effects including casualty, ageing and dirty down techniques.
8. Know how to achieve a flawless base with a range of finishes including semi-matte, glowing, contoured and ‘no make-up’ look.
9. Be able to camouflage skins with either or pigmentation flaws, tattoo’s or scars.
10. Create flattering looks for mature skins. 11. Have a thorough working knowledge of current make- up
product types and which are best to use for every situation and brief.
12. Experienced working on set, by shadowing or assisting TV make-up artists.
13. Be able to create a face or body paint to a high standard.
14. Have the skills to design and apply make-up and styling for fashion runway looks.
15. Be able to manicure models hands for close up or pack shot TV work.
