A Country DividedFollowing WWII, Germany was divided
into __________________ East Germany which was run by the Soviet Union,
and _________________ West Germany, run by the U.S., U.K., and France.Germany remained in two pieces for over 40 years until the fall of the Soviet Union in 1990. It is then that the two regions reunified, or were brought back together.

The Wall This concrete wall didn’t stop many Berliners from trying to enter the west.
Desperate to reach West Berlin, citizens of the east would jump out windows of houses on the borderline, or dig tunnels to crawl underneath the wall. These processes were not easy, and grew more and more dangerous everyday.
Almost 200 People were killed trying to escape from the East into the west.
On November 9, 1989, the Berlin Wall came tumbling down joining East and West Germany back together
