Who is Gerard Ryan
With an extensive creative production career, Gerard is passionate about helping transform initial ideas into great outcomes. In 2001, Gerard founded Fabmosphere, a successfulSydney-based company specialising in production and management of events and activations.
As Senior Production Manager, Gerard turns his clients’ ideas into a physical entity - on time, to scope, within budget and by finding practical ways of bringing magically to lifewhat they envisioned. Intimately understanding the client’s brief, including goals and objectives, and applying experienced questioning of the client is key to our success. But thereal challenge is delivering a well-designed physical structure environment that works to its objectives. It demands focus, awareness and attention to detail and a little thing helikes to call left-field problem-solving - something that comes with the experiences and challenges he has faced creating events for satisfied customers in the past.
Gerard’s original qualifications are in mechanical engineering, which means that he knows how to build the physical aspect of the event or activation that works. Gerard combinesthat practical understanding with a depth of event production experience, a collaborative approach to internal/external teams, and a well-developed artistic flair.

Brand Activation Evian back yard hoist:
The Challenge:
To build the hoist so it could hold two to four adults and be structurally safe, quick to install and visually impacting for the duration of the activations.
The Solution:
From the initial design to the engineering and then manufacture we ticked off all of the must have elements on this project. When time came for install and operation the site wasflawless. Allowing for up to four people to use the hoist at any one time the whole activation overall catered to over 2000 participants over the three days on the two sites ofMartin Place and Bondi. Working with BEcause the agency we ensured that the maximum amount of brand visibility and excitement was achieved from the activation. Gerardalso ensured all OH&S issues were covered off for the event.

Invisalign Flower wall
The Challenge:
To make a bold statement in Martin Place - display sunflowers and ensure maximum branding exposure within the given budget and time parameters.
The Solution:
The pod we designed housed the flowers and had internal brand messaging that was exposed as the flowers were removed and given away to passers-by throughout theactivation. With the footfall in the 1000’s through Martin Place the activation needed to be impactful and obvious to stand out from the constant activations that are on in that partof town.

Jim Beam Bourbon Fest
The Challenge:
Design and build the elements for the multiple one-day Jim Beam festival and minimise the amount of transport required
The Solution:
Building the structures and furniture modular, then flat-packing for transport in two semi’s for cost effectiveness. This site had multiple areas that required attention to detailsolution orientated approaches all the way through. From the chill out tent to the benches and tables for the outdoor area. The site catered for up to 2500 pax on theday/evening event and in all situations went off without a hitch.

International Fertilizer Association Gala Dinner
The Challenge:
To engage a conservative audience who traditionally leave the event mid-way through
The Solution:
Working with our client Arinex we put the stage in the centre of the room ensuring that the audience was engaged throughout the duration of the event, having great talent onstage had the same outcome. With 900 international guests in the room it was a benchmark annual event, we themed the event around Vivid Festival as it was on at the timeand incorporated this into the tables centres and ceiling lighting.

Canon HQ
The Challenge:
To deliver a project with tight time lines and late sign off…
The Solution:
Contracting to The Zoo Republic and working with the experiential team to deliver the production on time and within budget. A working budget with 150 + line item costs to keepin balance from beginning to end, working with multiple suppliers to deliver the room and to coordinate these to overlap so each can do their element with the support andstructure supplied from the other. Ensuring venue and city stake holders are covered off and that the event is compliant to its public liability requirements from traffic managementto rigging certification.

Gerard’s way of doing things is whatever works for you. He can manage end to end productions – but what sets him apart is how easily he can join your team when you needand this collaboration is extremely beneficial to the outcome – get him in at conception stage, ideation and brainstorming, in production to ensure perfect event delivery to ensurebudget and design aligns with what not could be but can be delivered. It’s never too early or too late to get the process rolling…
What happens next:
Gerard works from a brief which outlines the requirements of the project, depending on the scale and type of project we can discuss at the time how best to approach.It helps Gerard to understand what needs to be achieved from the project, from time frame to delivery – location and where possible a budget parameter and key client outcomesrequired.Gerard can work with your creative department to deliver the project from beginning to end, finding the most efficient path possible to ensure the end result is achieved costeffectively. He can work with your suppliers and where the project requires recommend appropriate suppliers that he has worked with over the years. Gerard can also write upSWIMS and WHS documentation around the project where required.
