campus experiences for

Georgetown College

students are trips to

interesting and meaningful

places. One taken recently

was to the Cincinnati

Museum Center to examine

their Dead Sea Scrolls: Life

and Faith in Ancient Times

exhibit.

Led by Dr. Juilee Decker,

Associate Professor and

Chair, Department of Art,

and Dr. Terry Clark,

Associate Professor of Religion, twenty students and f aculty attended,

representing the Departments of History and Religion as well as the Ensor

Learning Resource Center. Dead Sea Scrolls: Life and Faith in Ancient

Times features the most comprehensive collection of ancient artifacts

from Israel ever organized, including one of the largest collections of the

priceless 2,000-year-old Dead Sea Scrolls.

Considered among the w orlds greatest archaeological discoveries, the

Scrolls contain the oldest known copies of the Hebrew Bible. Of the more

than 500 objects from the Biblical to Byzantine Period in Israel, many

objects are from recent archaeological excavations in Jerusalem and have

never been publicly exhibited.

Students at Georgetown College routinely enjoy out-of -classroom

opportunities to add depth and breadth to their knowledge. The Dead

Sea Scrolls exhibit continues through mid-April, 2013.
