Hurricane Sandy severly damaged the iconic Coney Island Pier. LTL aims to revive this icon by bringing back a lost spectacle, people watching. As an extern at Lewis Tsurmaki Lewis Architects I helped to produce these im-ages and took part in meetings to develop the design.

FERENT INTERACTIVE PIECES CAN BE ATTACHED TO THE STRUCTURE, SUCH AS A WATER COLLECTION SYSTEM, TABLES, AND SWINGS. SUPPORTING THE EXTENTION

OF THE ROOF IS A CONCRETE POST/BENCH THAT CREATES SMALLER AREAS FOR GROUPS TO CONGREGATE.

THE BASIC STRUCTURE CONNECTS TO THE ROOF TRUSSES AT A 1.5 METER INTER-VAL, LOUVERS CAN BE ATTACHED TO THESE RAFTERS TO BOTH SHADE THE AREA BELOW AND REFLECT LIGHT UPWARDS ONTO THE CEILING OF THE CLASSROOMS

A WATER COLLECTION TANK CAN BE INCORPERATED INTO THE STRUCTURE. EXIST-ING RAFTERS OF THE ROOF STRUCTURE CAN BE USED TO CHANEL WATER FROM THE GUTTERS INTO THE TANK.

A team of four students and myself designed a school to be built in Uganda. The focus of the design was to create a space that brought the community and school together. A central courtyard provided a space for gathering, while a perimeter trellis structure provided an area and framework to house multiple programs. These included swings, tables, chairs, water collection tanks, monkey bars, and shading devices. Inside the roof structure is an angular cloth panel, which absorbs sound for better acoustics in the room without reduc-ing the light that comes in through the openings in the roof.

The Rivanna River is an underutilized and forgotten river that passes through the heart of Charlottesville, VA. In an ef-fort to make it apparent again and a recreational attraction, a group of 10 students and myself proposed damming the river in multiple locations. This would create areas for gathering ,wading, and swimming.

BUCHAREST BACKYARDS / During the Communist era in Romania individuals from the countryside and the city were taken from their homes and made to live in mass housing. With this came a disappearance of the backyard and intimate community spaces. In an effort to bring this back while maintaining the existing mass housing I have made the rooftops into communal and personal spaces defined by a simple twisting tent structure. The tent ex-tends downwards to the street to bring individuals upwards into these new spaces.
