4, SUMMARY INTERPRETATION
4.1 OVERVIEW
The Gradient -Realsection IPVResistivity surveys over the McGarry-Dasserat Property were de signed to help detect potential gold mineralization associated with disseminated sulphides from sur face to 600m depths. The target mineralization is the Deak-Kerr type, where ^"/o disseminated, Au-bearing pyrite occurs along the contact between a silicified wacke and a komatiite which hosts the Cadillac-Larder Lake Break - a well-known ENE-trending mineralizing structure regionally, within the Larder Lake gold camp. However, the key Archean-age volcano-sedimentary contact and Larder Lake Break (LLB) are completely overlain, through the central part of the survey area, by a thick (0- 300m) blanket of younger Huronian-age Cobalt Group sediments which lie in unconformable contact along the graben-like structure (P. Woods, HCA, pers. comm., 03/95). The Gradient-Realsection technique was chosen based on its high resolution and deep penetration capabilities
The McGarry-Dasserat property has been extensively explored by diamond drilling, particularly on the Ontario side (Trans-arctic Exploration Ltd., Geologic Compilation and DP Hole Plan, 07/93), where the Larder Lake-Timiskaming-Blake River stratigraphic succession is well-established. The property has recently been surveyed using ground total field magnetics (Rayan Exploration, McGarry-Dasserat Property TFM Survey. 06/96), which overlaps the present survey coverage. Two drill-holes have also targeted anomalies identified in the present survey results, along L12E and L19E (G. Wahl, HCA, pers. comm., 01/97).
The geologic setting of the property, below the 30-50m of glacio-fluvial overburden and 0-300m of Huronian cover rocks, features NE trending Archean rocks, with: a) volcanic tuffs to the south, b) followed by wackes, c) the Larder-Lake Break hosted with komatiites through the south-center, d) greywacke, e) trachytic volcanics in the center, and f) Blake River Group andesitic volcanics in the northern part of the grid area. These rocks are known to dip subvertically to steeply north. The Huronian cover is ^OOm thick to the grid-south, but thins-out near the baseline (P. Woods, HCA, pers. comm, 01/97).
4.2 SURVEY RESULTS AND INTERPRETATION
The Gradient-Realsection coverage at McGarry-Dasserat successfully defines signatures po tentially associated with geologic lithologies, structures and contacts, chemical alteration and, more importantly, indications of disseminated sulphide mineralization, likely to represent significant drill- targets. The large-dipole/deep penetration results map bulk chargeabilities and resistivity from sur face to 600m dep'.ns, yet appear to display a weak influence/correlation with the known geomorphol ogy - particularly the Huronian cover, which would have plagued all previous geophysical applica tions in the key Larder-Lake Break zone. This highlights, in particular, the deep penetration and high resolution capabilities of the RSIP technique and the Gradient array.
The resistivities results best provide information on the general geology. In plan, the apparent resistivities at McGarry-Dasserat vary widely in the moderate to highly resistive range (*:1k-40k Q- m), with spatial trends consistent with the faulted ultramafic to felsic rocks present across the prop erty. For example, two distinctive zones of anomalously high resistivity (M Ok Q-m) and high mag netism occuring north of BLO coincide with trachytic volcanic units (see interpretation plan map). Further north, two other similar high resistivity, but low magnetic rocks also likely coincide with Blake River Group felsic volcanics. In the main portion of the survey area, bulk resistivities generally in crease with northing, which could otherwise reflect the Huronian cover, however, the contours exhibit contrasting grid SE (EW geographic) continuous trends, and shorter NNE oriented lineaments This and the chargeability evidence both suggest that the Gradient resistivities map the east-striking geologic units which appear to be dislocated/displaced to the north along grid-NE trending displace-

ment faults, possibly related to the Little Creek Fault trends (ref TAEL Geologic Compilation Map, Fig. 4, QIP file). Although unmapped, these inferred NS faults are nearly always corroborated in the magnetics results. Of interest, a transition from low (1k-2k Q-m) to moderate resistivity (3k-5k Q-m) suggests a subvertical contact occuring between 1S-3S and 500S-6S visible in plan (see interp. map), and is identified in Realsection as representing the steeply dipping greywacke-komatiite con tact (G. Wahl, HCI, pers. comm. 06/96). Locally, within the interpreted komatiite, anomalously low ( elk fJ-m) resistivities may represent the LLB - if so, it is also fault-displaced along the interpreted NNE faults (see interp. plan).
In Realsection, the resistivity units are well-defined and the subvertical nature of contour lines confirms that the geologic dips upright and is laterally heterogeneous. The effect of the Huronian cover is minimized in the 200m to 600m depth slices, but its presence is detected through: a) the weak layering observed in the chargeability sections, b) the transition from uniformly flat chargeabili- ties to stronger contrasts below the 200-300m levels, and c) the unusual, weak subhorizontal high resistivity layer at 300m, interpreted to be an overshoot marking a layer-boundary. Clearly, there fore, the excellent correlation between the known geology and the Realsections serve to highlight the excellent lateral and vertical resolution characteristics of the RSIP technique, in spite of 200-300 metres of cover rocks, known to exist across this portion of the survey area.
The chargeability results best provide information on the presence of disseminated to massive metallic mineralization, in the order of 1-20Xo or better. At McGarry-Dasserat the chargeabilities are weak to moderate (4-9 mV/V), which suggests a dominantly weak, disseminated sulphide distribution in the rocks, but also reflects the overburden cover and, to a lesser extent, possibly the silicic- alteration within rocks hosting the mineralization. Unlike the apparent resistivity results, the charge ability plan map does not display grid-wide trends - which again confirms that the Huronian cover has a weak influence on the deep AB results. On the other hand, the strongest chargeabilities occur: a) along the southern perimeter of the property, in close association with the LLB and the inferred komatiite/metasedimentary contact, as hoped, and b) to the grid-north, within the high resistivity band, interpreted to represent the Blake River felsites. Two cross-cutting trends are defined from the plan-view chargeabilities: a) a grid EW to ESE trend which parallels the resistivity banding and likely represent lithologic mineralization, and b) grid ENE to NE trends which parallel the inferred NNE faults and potentially represent the structurally-hosted mineralization hoped for.
The interpretation plan map presents the IP anomaly axes, their interpreted line-to-line correla tion, their resistivity association (High resistivity, Low resistivity or Nil resistivity) and, where sufficient detailed/Realsection coverage is available, the recommended DDH target-depth is also included. Also indicated are zones of contrasting, anomalous high and low resistivity , as well as inferred re sistivity contacts, according to their importance in the geologic model. All anomalies shown on the plan map have been tabled in Appendix F. A key-name has also been attributed to all significant (moderate or better = >'\.5x background) axes, most likely to represent potential drill-targets for tex tual reference. Anomalies with similar resistivity associations have been named arbitrarily, in no or der of importance, with high resistivity associations using letters and numbers (i.e., A1 to D6).
The anomalies described below have been prioritized according to their relative strength, re sistivity association, and strike-continuity, with the assumption that percent-sulphide content altera tion-type, and strike-length are the most appropriate economic indicators, according to the geologic model. Realizing that the relative priority of these targets may be subject to change, based on addi tional geoscientific information, those identified here all represent anomalies which are most likely to host significant mineralization, within the 200-350m depth range, based on the geophysics alone.

4.2.1 First Priority Targets (B2. C1-C1'. A1-A2)* B2 is a grid ENE trending chargeability axis, in the grid-centre/west region, which appears to
be discordant to nearby trends and occurs along a well-defined geoelectric contact, which we interpret to represent a possible komatiite-greywacke transition, just north of the LLB It also represents the most well-defined chargeability anomaly identified in Realsections at McGarry-Dasserat., which suggest that it is subvertical, and extends downward from depths shallower than 200m, but is strongest at *350m depths to ^OOm. This resistivity-contact re lationship and above-average chargeability make it an excellent DDH targets, based on the Kerr-type geologic model.
* C1-C1' is a grid EW trending chargeability axis, in the grid south-west region, which appears to be near-concordant with nearby trends. It occurs on the edge of a narrow, subvertical high resistivity lineament, which marks the northern border of an anomalously low resistivity zone - hence this high p linear possibly represents the quartz-altered wacke lying in contact with the LLB-faulted/low resistivity Komatiite. Based on the Realsections, C1-C1' appears to strengthen and become better defined with easting, and along L14E, where it is best defined, it is steeply south-dipping and buried below 250-300m. Based on its similarities with B2, d' also merits a high priority - however, due to its position on the southern limit of the survey area, C1 should be better characterized using additional RSIP.
* A1-A2 is the only other well-defined IP axis characterized in Realsection at McGarry- Dasserat, and represents part of a narrow, subvertical, grid-EW trending, near-concordant high chargeability /low resistivity linear which occurs just north of the B2 contact zone. Fur ther west, based on its resistivity association, A1 either represents a concordant fault-fracture zone or a more porous, weakly mineralized metasedimentary unit. However, east of L13E, where B2 appears to crosscut the low p linear and subsequently pinch-out, A2 strengthens and becomes grid ENE trending - apparently coincident with an inferred NNE displacement fault. A2 appears to be vertically discontinuous (i.e. pinch and swell), and may be fault- displaced - exhibiting unusual dip behaviour. It appears to strengthen below 250-300m depths, but may pinch-out below 500m. Hence, based on its spatial relationship with B2 and possibly fault-fracture association, we assign a high second priority to A2 - recommending that it be tested following C1' and B2, as a potential mineralized fault-fracture zone.
4.2.2 Second Priority Targets (B3-B3'. B4. D2". D1'lThese axes, characterized in Realsection, feature weaker chargeabilities and shorter strike-
lengths relative to the high priority targets. B3-B3' and B4 are two closely subparalleling, discordant grid ENE mixed-resistivity axes which lie between the high priority B2/A2 and C1-C1' linears. D1-D1 and D2-D2'-D2" occur further south-east in a area poorly covered by RSIP, but which is indicated to possibly represent the LLB-faulted komatiitic rocks. Those retaining ihe greatest geologic interest can be drill-targeted based on the position and source-depths pro1 ided from the Realsections. . Subsequently, if these are shown to be attractive targets, they can then either be followed on strike or further detailed using RSIP.
4.2.3 Third Priority Targets (A3. B1. D1. D2-D2'. D3-D3'-D3". E1-ET. E2. E3)These axes represent moderate anomalies which have not been adequately characterized in
Realsection and can therefore not be DDH-targeted with confidence. However, if these retain suffi cient geologic interest, these can be drill-targeted based on the position provided in Appendix F and the interpretation plan maps - we strongly recommend, however, that these be first, further detailed using RSIP prior to additional folllow-up. Of note, D3-D3'-D3" and D2-D2' occur along contacts south of the zone of anomalous pA low and may therefore better represent the targeted silicified wacke/komatiite zone which was targeted south of the LLB. On the other hand, E1-D1', E2 and E3 all represent high resistivity, grid ESE trending linears which occur in a band of anomalously high resistivity in the NE section of the survey area - as a result, these likely represent weak, stratigraphic mineralization within Blake River volcanics, which may be of limited economic interest.

The Gradient-Realsection IP surveys at McGarry-Dasserat were intended to provide deep ex ploration for shear-hosted Au- mineralization along a key komatiite/metasedimentary contact associ ated with the Larder Lake Break, in the 300-600m depth range, in an area that has historically proven difficult for conventional geophysical methods due to the deep Huronian cover. In response to the geologic objectives, the RSIP identified has identified at least three (3) deep high priority tar gets which resemble the target model, as well as four (4) other weaker anomalies of significance (see Table l). Those moderate anomalies which remain are poorly defined, due to an absence of Realsection coverage, and require additional follow-up work prior to DDH-targeting.
