Geometry Monster Glyph This project is to be completed once your
students are familiar with the following :
• Polygon vs. Not a Polygon
• Different types of polygons. Ie: triangles,
quadrilaterals, pentagons, hexagons, and
octagons
• Closed Shape vs. Open Shape
• Isosceles and Equilateral Triangles
• Acute, Obtuse, Right, and Straight Angles
• Intersecting and Parallel Lines
Geometry Monster Glyphs can be used as a
form of review, to assess understanding, as a center
activity, used for small group work, reinforcement
exercise, etc…

Steps for creating your very own Geometry Monster Glyph
Step #1: Gather supplies (ie: glue, scissors,
markers, construction paper) Print the patterns
provided on cardstock so that they can be cut out
and used as traceable patterns or simply cut them
out of file folders for durability.
Step #2: Review the geometry terms used in the
assignment
Step #3: Go over the instructions and discuss how to
complete the glyph
Step #4: Assemble your monster
Step #5: Use any extra scraps of paper to add
accessories to your monster
Step #6: Share your monsters with the class

Color of Monster Your favorite color

Select a polygon that has the same number of sides as the number of letters in your name. If your name has 7 or more letters, use the octagon.
Eyes If you are a girl= Not a Polygon If you are a boy= Polygon
Mouth If you like geometry= Closed Shape If you do not like geometry= Open Shape
Teeth
2 or less vowels in your name= 2 Isosceles Triangles 3 or more vowels in your name= 3 Equilateral Triangles
Antennas If 2 or less children in your family= Acute Angle If more than 2 children in your family= Obtuse Angle
Legs If you have a pet= Intersecting legs If you have no pets= Parallel legs
Arms If you have long hair= Straight Angles If you have short hair= Right Angles
