OUR PASTCHIPKO MOVEMENT

Chipko movement was a famous movement in the earlier times. It was implemented early in the HIMALAYAS.The main aim of this movement was to restrict deforestation. There were attempts to revive the traditional conservation or developing new methods of ecological farming. They showed that community afforestation with indigenous species can also be effective.

Many farmers and citizen’s groups like the BEEJ BACHAO ANDOLAN and NAVDANYA have taken responsibility of the CHIPKO MOVEMENT.

Page 5: Geography of india

Depletion of resources for satisfying the greed of few individuals.

Accumulation of resources in few hands.Indiscriminate exploitation of resources has

lead to global ecological crisis.

PROBLEMS IN DEVELOPMENT OF RESOURCES

FIRST EARTH SUMMIT

RIO DE JANEIRO EARTH SUMMIT

In june 1992, more than 100 heads of state met in Rio De Janeiro in Brazil, for the first International Earth Summit. They signed the declaration on Global Climatic change and Biological Diversity. Actually the summit was convened for addressing

urgent problems of Environmental protection and socio-economic development at the Global level.

Page 7: Geography of india

Agenda 21 is the declaration signed by the world leaders in 1992 at the UNITED NATIONS CONFERENCE on ENVIRONMENT and DEVELOPMENT.

It is an agenda to combat environmental damage, poverty, diseases through global

co-operation on common interests, mutual needs and shared responsibilities

SOIL EROSIONThe denudation of the soil cover and subsequent washing down is called SOIL EROSION

Page 11: Geography of india

GULLY EROSIO

N

The running water cuts through the clayey soil and makes deep channels as GULLIES.

Page 12: Geography of india

Bad land

The land which is not good for or is unfit for cultivation is known as BAD LAND.

In Chambal region such types of land is known as Ravines.

Page 13: Geography of india

SHEET EROSION

Sometimes water flows with great speed and pressure and erodes the top layer of the soil, This is known as Sheet erosion.

OUR INDIA(PRESENT)

At present ,there are about 81000 species belong to

fauna and 47000 species belong to the flora of our country.

Out of these 47000 species, about 15000 belong to flowering plants.

DEFORESTATION IN RIO DE JANEIRO

Deforestation in RIO DE JANEIRO (BRAZIL).This hill was deforestated in order to use its clay in construction in BARRA DA TIJUCA.

Page 17: Geography of india

DEFORESTATION

Deforestation means the indiscriminate cutting of trees.

EVERY YEAR ABOUT 102,234,930 TREES !

Page 18: Geography of india

DEFORESTATION IN AMAZON RAIN FOREST

EVERY YEAR ABOUT 8,000,000 TREES ARE CUT.SO SAD !!!

Page 19: Geography of india

POLLUTION ………………..

All types of pollution are threats to the human life.We must check all these pollutions to sustain our life.

Page 20: Geography of india

WHAT STEPS SHOULD BE TAKEN ?

We can take the following steps to save our EARTH and to develop our RESOURCES :-

SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT

USE OF RENEWABLE RESOURCES

AFFORESTATION

CONSERVING THE ANIMAL SPECIES

Page 21: Geography of india

CAN WE BLAME THEGOVERNMENT

No, we cannot blame the government alone. The government has started many programmes to save our wildlife and to save our flora.

?

STEPS TO BE TAKEN TO SAVE WILDLIFE

The Government should take many steps to save :-

KASHMIR STAG

Page 26: Geography of india

IMPORTANT ARE THE RESOURCE DESTROYING WITH NEGATIVE FORCE, GROW TREES AND BOW THE SEEDS, ALWAYS REMEMBER, " THERE IS ENOUGH FOR EVERYBODY'S NEED BUT NOT FOR ANYBODY'S NEED………
