• Learning Objective: Given websites that contain information and pictures on the globe students will need to identify the correct continent, hemisphere, and ocean in the questions within the power point with 100% accuracy.

• Standard: 2.14 construct a globe depicting the four hemispheres, seven continents, and five oceans.

Prime Meridian and Equator:

• The equator is 0 degree latitude. This imaginary line, which runs through parts of South America, Africa, and Asia, is officially the halfway point between the North Pole and the South Pole.

• The prime meridian is 0 degrees longitude. This imaginary line runs through the United Kingdom, France, Spain, western Africa, and Antarctica.

Hemispheres:

• There are four in total.

• Defined as- Either the northern or southern half of the earth as divided by the equator or the eastern or western half as divided by a meridian.
