Product passportGenuine-ID makes it possible to mark products uniquely with DNA, the most encrypted coding system of nature. The Genuine-ID product passport uses the principles of the paternity test and applies them to consumer goods and industrial products.With the Genuine-ID material passport we give any product a unique and provable identity.

How-toThe Genuine-ID® material passport is added to the raw material in the production process. No extra produc-tion steps are required.The Genuine-ID® material passport requires very low concentrations. Only 1 ppm (one part per million, e.g. one gram per ton) is required to uniquely mark your material. The material properties remain unchanged.

Product paternity testReliance in the secrecy of the code database plays a key role in the application of the Genuine-ID material passport. The DNA-codes are kept in a molecular form. No electronic or written copy is stored.

The proof of authenticity is performed in the laborato-ries of Genuine-ID. The test is equivalent to a paternity test. The same biological methods are applied. In order to perform the analysis a small sample of about 1 mg of material is taken from the product. This sample is matched with the securely stored original DNA sequence. The product paternity is only granted if the match between the product sample and the origi-nal DNA is perfect.The result is provided on the next working day.

DNA coding

EncryptionThe DNA structure consist of four different molecules (Adenine: A, Cytosine: C, Guanine: G and Thymine: T) which form a unique code pattern.In the case of the Genuine-ID product passport a 64-digit code length is used. The number of possible combinations is therefore 464 = 3.4E38. In full length this number is 340000000000000000000000000000000000000.

By comparison, the EuroMillions-Lotto allows for 1.2E08 possible combinations:120000000.

EncapsulationIn order to survive the harsh conditions during produc-tion and the product life cycle, the DNA molecules re-quire protection. This is realized by an encapsulation of the DNA in SiO2 (Silicon Dioxide) microparticles. The SiO2 microparticles are very small glass balls with a di-ameter of about 1/10’000 mm. Silcon Dioxide microparticles (also known as silica) are certified as food additive E551 in concentrations of up to 1%.

Genuine-ID Polymers Genuine-ID Polymers is already compounded in thermoplastic materials. The code is fully integrated in the material. Genuine-ID polymers is applied as standard additive. Very low quantities of particles are required to mark the mate-rial sufficiently.

Genuine-ID ParticlesAny liquid or cream can be marked with Genuine-ID particles. The microparticles are completely invisible and do not change the proper-ties or functionality of the liquid.

Genuine-ID SealThe unique and traceable Genuine-ID coding is inte-grated into labels or seals. The label can be added to any kind of product (eg. stitched or glued on textiles) as guarantee of authenticity and quality.

About usGenuine-ID is part of the Swiss company TurboBeads LIc which is a high-tech Spin-Off of the ETH Zürich (Fed-eral Institute of Technology Zürich). TurboBeads is well established since the kick-off in 2007 and is specialized in the production and functionalization of magnetic nanoparticles for medical and industrial applications such as medical diagnostics and water purification.

Genuine-ID represents reliability, creditability and dis-cretion. We are experts in handling DNA materials as well as micro- and nanoparticles. Our technology has been developed since 2007 at the ETH Zürich in Swit-zerland.
