GENRE OF MAGAZINE

The most commonly published genre of music presented in my magazine will be general pop music however Indie, Alternative and R&B will also feature in parts of my magazine. This allows the magazine to appeal to a much wider audience. These genres of music are very popular with the age group of my target market. The artists from these genres are also very recognisable therefore them featuring on my magazine will attract my audiences attention. These genres are memorable youth; people enjoy the music that they grow up with. This is why this age group will relate to these genres so well.

However these genres are popular in music magazine production therefore there will be a very competitive market furthermore this could help me to create a very successful magazine as researching into other music magazines who publish these genres of music allows me to see what artists and features appeal most to people of this age. Being less specific about what genres of music is featured in the magazine allows it to appeal to a large target market of both a feminine audience and masculine. Choosing a few genres to publish in my magazine allows me to have a variation of what articles feature in my magazine therefore is more to talk about throughout my magazine. Rather than talking about one specific genre or artist throughout; this may discourage some of my audience to read further.
