Knowing that establishing Ethernet connections would be more complex than traditional private line services, Genius decided to outsource network provisioning and carrier management to a trusted third party to save time, money and resources. “I had a small team assigned to the move, and I wanted to avoid adding head count,” said Zaid Ali, director of technical opera- tions at Genius.com. “Time was of the essence, but we needed affordability, too. We had to make sure that the move was seamless, and that the circuits were up and running immediately, with no impact to our customers.” Solution Splice designed a custom solution for Genius.com aſter considering a variety of provisioning options for a multi-vendor Ethernet-based network with BGP rout- ing to service the new datacenter. The solution implemented consisted of two Fast Ethernet (100M) circuits, one from Verizon and one from Level 3 for diver- sity. Splice service delivery managers handled the entire process from negotiat- ing carrier orders, to coordinating test and turn-up procedures and troubleshooting capacity issues.
