Growing seed in Israel

Page 70: Genesis seeds

70

Having growers in multiple locations enables production of a large variety of crops in various seasons and in controlled, isolated conditions.

Genesis Seeds’ network of contract growers is spread over Israel

from the north to south, representing the wide-ranging micro-climates and soil diversity.

Situated between 29.5° and 33.5° latitude and 34.2° and 35.5°

longitude, Israel has zero humidity and is almost pathogen free.

Page 71: Genesis seeds

71

Genesis Seeds carefully selects its growers and continuously monitors their growing operations. Genesis Seeds operates according to ISO 9001:2000, ISO 14001 and the Green Label with the endorsement of the Israeli Standards Institute.

Genesis Seeds sells only to seed companies, wholesalers and distributors and does not trade with seeds produced by other companies.

Page 72: Genesis seeds

72

All Genesis Seeds’ operations, from research to production to processing take place under strict organic and environmentally controlled methods. The processing plant, the research stations, the growers and the entire production process are organically certified. They meet the organic standards of the European Union and the United States Department of Agriculture National Organic Program.

Page 73: Genesis seeds

73

Together with Genesis’ in-house production, its growers

produce certified organic seeds on over 250 acres of open

fields, net-houses and greenhouses (could expand to 500 to 750

acres).

Genesis SeedsProduction, Sales & Marketing Strategy

74

Genesis sells only seed that the company has grown. Genesis does not trade seed with other seed companies. However, Genesis does grow some certified hybrid seed for other companies (converting conventional hybrids to organic hybrids). All seed sold, or produced for other companies, comes from Israel and meets the company’s quality standards. Israel’s Most Favored Nation Treaty with the U.S. and the E.U. allows the company’s seed to reach its main markets duty-free.
