TRANSCRIPT
Now the earth was formless and
empty, darkness was over the
surface of the deep, and the Spirit
of God was hovering over the
waters.
Day 1: Light and darkness
separated
Day 2: Sky and waters separated
Day 3: Dry land and seas
separated, plants and trees
Day 4: Sun, moon and stars
Day 5: Fish and birds
Day 6: Animals and man
Genesis 1:31-2:3 (ESV)31 And God saw everything that he had made,
and behold, it was very good. And there was
evening and there was morning, the sixth
day.
2 Thus the heavens and the earth were
finished, and all the host of them. 2 And on
the seventh day God finished his work that
he had done, and he rested on the seventh
day from all his work that he had done. 3 So
God blessed the seventh day and made it
holy, because on it God rested from all his
work that he had done in creation.
• God finished His work, He rested.
• Man’s first day on earth, he rested.
Not worked.• Was there work for man to do? Yes.
God blessed them; and God said to them,
“Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth,
and subdue it; and rule over the fish of the
sea and over the birds of the sky and over
every living thing that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28, NASB)
What does it say about God?
What does God want us to know about
Himself?
• I am your Creator. (Rev 4:11)
“… for you created all things, and by your
will they existed and were created.”
• I sustain all things. You can depend
on Me. (Acts 17:25)
“ … he himself gives to all mankind life and
breath and everything.”
• I created you for My own glory. (Is 43:7)
“ .. everyone who is called by my name,
whom I created for my glory, whom I formed
and made.”
• I rejoice over you. (Is 62:5; Zeph 3:17)
“ .. and as the bridegroom rejoices over the
bride, so shall your God rejoice over you.”
“ .. he will exult over you with loud singing.”
HOW IS YOUR
RELATIONSHIP WITH
GOD TODAY?
Jesus said:
I am the way and
the truth and the
life. No one
comes to the
Father except
through me.
Genesis 1:26-27 (NASB)26 Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our
image, according to Our likeness; and let
them rule over the fish of the sea and over
the birds of the sky and over the cattle and
over all the earth, and over every creeping
thing that creeps on the earth.”27 God created man in His own image, in the
image of God He created him; male and
female He created them.
What does it say about man?
What does God want us to know about
ourselves?
• Man is made in the image of God. Definition: The fact that man is in the image of
God means that man is like God and represents
God. (Wayne Grudem)
• Think about this: When the Creator of the
universe wanted to create something “in his
image”, something more like himself than all the
rest of creation, he made us.
• Man is created in a special, personal
way. (Gen 2:7, 21-22)“then the LORD God formed the man of dust from
the ground and breathed into his nostrils the breath
of life, and the man became a living creature.”
“And the rib that the LORD God had taken from the
man he made into a woman and brought her to the
man.”
• Men and women are made equally in
God’s image.o equally important,
o equally valuable to God
• Men and women have distinct roles.
(Gen 2:15, 18)Then the LORD God took the man and put him into
the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it.
Then the LORD God said, “It is not good for the man
to be alone; I will make him a helper suitable for
him.”
God blessed them; and God said to them, “Be
fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth, and
subdue it; and rule over the fish of the sea and
over the birds of the sky and over every living thing
that moves on the earth.” (Genesis 1:28, NASB)
HOW CAN YOU LIVE
OUT GOD’S DESIGN
FOR YOUR LIFE?
Jesus said:Whoever abides in me and I in him, he it is
that bears much fruit, for apart
from me you can do nothing.
