THE SIVANANDA TEACHERS’ TRAINING COURSE Was founded by Swami Vishnudevananda in 1969 and

was the first Yoga teacher’s training course ever to be held

in the West. It is now taught by senior disciples of Swami

Vishnudevananda with over 40,000 graduates worldwide

and 1,000 new graduats every year. The goal of this training

programme is to train qualified and inspiring yoga teachers

who are able to draw on their own practice and personal

THE YOGA TEACHERS’ TRAINING COURSE Combines the practice of asanas, pranayama and meditation with the study

of ethical and philosophical principles as well as a vegetarian diet. This

allows a comprehensive understanding of yoga. Regular daily practice helps

to successfully integrate yoga in one’s own life and teach it to others.

Upon successful completion of the course, the yoga teacher has sufficient

knowledge and practical experience to teach asanas, pranayama and

relaxation to beginners and intermediate-level students.

The spiritual strength behind the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres

Swami Durgananda is a Yoga Acharya

and senior disciple of Swami Vishnudeva-

nanda. She is the director of the Interna-

tional Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres

in Europe. Over 40 years of intense

practice and teaching experience. Author of The Inner Path

and a commentary on the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Swami

Durgananda is a founding member of the Board of Directors

of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres.

Swami Sivadasananda is a Yoga Acharya

and direct disciple of Swami Vishnudeva-

nanda. Since 1983, he has trained yoga

teachers and taught workshops around

the world with genuine knowledge and

a dynamic and precise teaching style. Author of Sivananda

Beginner’s Guide to Yoga and Yoga – Your Home Practice

Companion. He has been part of the executive team in Europe for

many years. Swami Sivadasananda is Member of the Board of

Directors of the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres.

Swami Kailasananda is a Yoga Acharya and a long-time

disciple of Swami Vishnudevananda. She is the director of the

International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres in England,

France and in the Asia-Pacific region. She is

a scholar of Sanskrit and has many years

of teaching experience at yoga teacher

training courses in Europe and India. Au-

thor of The Sivananda Book of Meditation.

Swami Kailasananda is Member of the Board of Directors of

the International Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centres.

Swami Ramapriyananda is a disciple of

Swami Vishnudevananda and the director

of the Sivananda Yoga Retreat House.

She is a very experienced teacher.

Swami Vidyananda is a long-time staff

member of the European Sivananda Yoga

Centres. She is the coordinator of the TTCs

in North India.

Only some of the course instructors are on site; they are not

always present for the entire course. Further experienced

Swamis and yoga instructors teach during the course who

regularly expand their knowledge and yoga practice through

further training courses in India.

Admission RequirementsThe intensity of the training programme requires

discipline and an open mind to new teachings and

experiences. Prior experience in the practice of

yoga and meditation is recommended and a sincere

desire for knowledge and commitment to personal

growth is needed. It is suggested that before enroll-

ing for the course, you familiarise yourself with the

Sivananda system of practice.

Ashram RulesAttendance at all asana classes, lectures, morning

and evening meditation is mandatory. In order to

maintain a pure atmosphere, no meat, fish, eggs,

coffee or black tea are allowed. No smoking, alco-

hol, or drugs. Their use may lead to dismissal from

the course.
