Summer Uniform
Please note that all children should be in the
Summer Uniform from EXEAT onwards
following our return after Easter.
Mobile Phones
In the interests of courtesy and our children's
safety, we politely request, that mobile
phones are not used within the building.
Communicating with teachers
Email has changed the way we communicate
and can be very effective. When there are
matters which require discussion however it
can often be more efficient and better for all
concerned to meet in person. Please do not
hesitate to make appointments with us.
Supervising Children
If you are waiting to collect your older
children from the Seligman or other areas of
the Upper School please ensure they are well
supervised. Children should not be on the
low ropes without a member of staff.
General Notices Please take time to read the bulletin published each week it does contain important pieces of Pre-Prep information
Child illness
We have managed to miss the worst of
the horrid bug that swept across the
Upper School. If you are in doubt
about whether your child should be in
school, please refer to the Fit for
School policy which can be found in
the class handbooks. It gives advice
and will help you to understand the
School’s expectations regarding when a
child should not be in school due to
illness. You can also contact Sister Bull
in the surgery at school.
Permission for absences
Please could all permissions for
absences of 1 day or part of a day,
including for appointments, be directed
for the Pre-Prep to-
If the absence is for longer than 1 day
or includes Upper School siblings,
permission should be sought from Mrs
Goldsmith via Mrs Blake -
All schools have a legal obligation to
record any absence, along with the
reason, when children miss any part of
the normal school day.
Timing of events
Thank you for your support and
feedback for our EYFS craft morning.
We know how many of you relish the
opportunity to spend time in the
classrooms with your children. We
also recognise that these events can be
tricky to manage for our working
parents. We have taken on board
feedback and will not run events on
consecutive days next year, but the
timings of the fabulous finish will
remain in place as it works for those
parents with children in both EYFS
and KS1.
Wrap around care
Thank you for completing our survey
on wrap around care. It provided us
with lots of interesting feedback. This
is something we are looking into for
the future. This term’s after school
activities were over subscribed and we
apologise if your child did not get
their first choice. Numbers are
restricted on certain activities for
health and safety considerations.

The Year 1 children were
delighted with their visit from
Mrs Squires and baby Noah, we
haven’t heard such quiet
excitement from them before.
We wish Mrs Berrie the very
best as she begins her maternity
leave. We will miss you very
much but hope to see you and
your new baby very soon.
We are once again delighted to
thank the Friends of the School
for the annual Easter Egg Hunt;
the squeals of excitement are so
lovely to hear.
We wish you all a happy and
healthy Easter holidays.
Welcome to another edition of
Mini Winnies. It has been
another busy term which has
flown by amidst many events and
activities as well as lots of creative
classroom learning.
As part of Religious Studies, Year
1 visited the school Chapel where
Mrs Goldsmith led a service.
Father James, from St Peter’s,
facilitated our end of term
assembly focusing on Easter and
of course this morning the whole
school took part in an end of
term service at St Peter’s Church.
All the children in Pre-Prep
enjoyed Shrove Tuesday. Some
classes sampled a variety of
African inspired flavours and
compared them with traditional
British pancakes.
World Book Day filled Pre-Prep
with a carnival of animals. Your
efforts with the costumes were
much appreciated, as the
children came in dressed as their
favourite animal from a book.
The children have really
enjoyed using the Upper School
facilities this term. Classes have
taken place in both the Science

Our Partnership Farm Every class in Pre-Prep had a wonderful opportunity to visit Greatworth Farm during lambing
season. The children in Miss Bray’s class in Year 1 wrote the following account of their trip:
Our Pre-Prep Sports Day will have a different feel this year. Following the success of the
morning timing which was forced upon us last year, we will hold it at 10.30am on Friday 23rd
June followed by a bring your own picnic lunch.
We will obviously publish more details nearer the time but we realise you may need to make
arrangements and wanted to give you some advance warning. Children will be able to go
home after this or alternatively we will offer an afternoon of supervised activities for working
parents.

Year 2 also had a visitor. Mrs Girling bought in some
artefacts and some clothing for the children to see. She
taught them some traditional African dancing and brought
some delicious treats to eat.
Above: Nursery Children on a Lion Hunt.
We hope you enjoyed the Families day performances.
There was a really magical atmosphere in the vibrancy of
the performances and the children’s enthusiasm for sharing
your Learning Journey’s with you. As we say goodbye to
Africa and head back to WHS we have to start wondering
what the next topic will be...
Farewell from Africa This topic has been inspiring. The children and the
teachers have all really enjoyed the different
opportunities it has presented for learning.
The highlight of the topic for Nursery and Reception
was their trip to the Cotswold Wildlife Park. The
weather may not have matched that of the warmer
African climate but a great time was had by all. The
children were impressed with the size of the larger
animals, while the smaller ones such as the meerkats
really had the ‘ahhh’ factor. The lions were a hit with
the nursery children having been on a lion hunt only
the week before.
The education centre
was a great hands on
experience for the
children… who else
can say they have put
their hand in a tiger’s
mouth?
We are so lucky to have had visitors to Pre-Prep to
help with this topic. Mrs Jones gave a presentation to
Nursery, Reception and Year 1 about her time living in
Kenya. The children asked sensible questions and
learnt a lot about the difference in lifestyle between
the UK and Africa.
Mr Jones called up a
friend on Skype so the
children were able to talk
to a class of Kenyan
school children. Each
class shared things about
what they were doing
that day. The wonders
of technology!
