Club Med History

Since 1950, Club Med has been creating happiness

and inventing new ways to share it with our GMs

(Gracious Members) our guests, GOs (Gracious

Organisers) and GEs (Gracious Employees). Club

Med has built a heritage of strong values: Pioneer,

Freedom, Kindness, Multicultural & Responsibility.

With over 60 villages across 5 continents and with

the GOs representing over one hundred nationalities

speaking over 30 languages, Club Med continues to

emphasise its multicultural aspect.

The Club Med villages are located in the world’s

most beautiful locations and offer an all inclusive

package – airport transfers, accommodation, all

meals and drinks, organised sports, activities, kids

club and entertainment. This desirable holiday

experience attracts families, singles and couples. It is

also a popular option for corporate and incentive

groups and small to large scale events.

In 2002, Club Med moved towards a strong

upscale strategy whilst still preserving the key

elements of the unique holiday experience – GO

and GM interaction and the abundance offering

of sports and entertainment. Many villages have

been renovated or plan to be and as of today,

over 80% of the villages are rated as 4 and 5

Trident.

Club Med has definitely found the key to

a place where

“Happiness means the World”

The Resort of Hokkaido

After an exhausting day on the slopes, guests can

enjoy a treatment at the brand new spa, unwind

in a searing sauna, enjoy a Canadian bath or have

a traditional Japanese outdoor hot ofuro while

admiring the snow covered slopes. The resort also

offers nightly entertainment - live band, billiards,

a piano and midnight bar. For the non-skiers,

there is also a choice of leisurely day pursuits

including nature walks, snow-shoeing and

excursions to nearby hot springs.

.

Club Med Hokkaido, on the island of Hokkaido is a

popular destination with both Japanese and foreign

guests due to the lessons offered in English and ski in

ski out accommodation which are rarities in Japan.

The slopes offer exceptional powder skiing across

several mountain chains and clear winter weather

with high sunshine. All ability levels are catered for

on mountains between 400 and 1,060 metres and for

those who need to be put through their paces, Club

Med offers an all inclusive ski school.

Hokkaido is one of 3 ski villages in Asia. We also have

an amazing property at Yabuli China and this year

will be opening a brand new resort of Beidahu China

which is located in Jilin Province.

Expectations of being a GO

The job of a GO is a Club Med invention. It is unique in so many ways. The GO is the ambassador of the Club Med

Spirit and holder of the company’s 5 values – kindness, freedom, multiculturalism, pioneer & responsibility.

It is a combination of working professionalism and a way of life. They have a sense of superior service quality and

go above and beyond the expectations of the GMs (guests). Enthusiastic and smiling; they have a passion for life

and know how to communicate it to others.

Curious about others, they know how to build links and have the ability to adapt to the different personalities and

cultures that they encounter. The GOs are open to the world around them and respect the diversity of all

individuals. Their manners and refinement allow them to accompany the upscale move of Club Med and the

evolution of its clientele. When speaking with GM’s you must never discuss inappropriate aspects of your personal

life.

Club Med requires GOs presentation to be immaculate in both professional and convivial time to promote an upscale

resort environment. This includes the highest standard of personal hygiene, clean groomed facial hair, no visible

tattoos or body piercing including tongue rings, nose rings, eyebrow rings etc, a neat haircut, appropriate footwear

and clothing will be required at all times. Your evening wear must be smart casual and never display potentially

offensive words or images.

with the GMs at different locations throughout the village.

traditional Club Med dances.
