I send you herewith the following:

1. Memorandum of Association of Canadian Rockies Hotel Company, Limited.

2. Articles of Association of Canadian Rockies Hot;~pany, ~mited.

If satisfactory to you, will you please sign both copies as subscriber.

L. W. Hill R. Budd G. R . ' artin W. p. Kenney F. L. Paetzold

My idea is to make the capitalization $500,000 if we can easily change it; but that if a change cannot be easily raade, we should make the capitalization ~1,000,000 now.

GLACIER PARK HOTEL COMPANY

St. Paul, :Minn •• May 6th, 1926

Mr. Louis W. Hill:

Referring to yours of 1my 3rd and returning attached A.F.E. No. 36162. The only items that are done are:

ITEM I.

ITEM 2;

The twelve (12) reading lamps recommended for each hotel. Th~se we purchased a few weeks ago; a simple wrot iron bridge ~a~~oomplete with shade. cord and everything for ~2.94 O~vCiSl ~le at Field. Schli~k & Co.

GLAOIER PARK HOTEL, provides for roller window shades in convention hall. Instead of roller shades I recommenil cloth shades o~ dark material, such as blue denim. It 1s simply fo darkening the room on occasions. I can do this with oth material for a cost of ~20.00.

Renew steam line from ower house to Hotel. This work is under way. When tl, pipe was exposed it was found to be still in good sha so that we are simply replacing the rotted wooden co nit and putting in new pipe covering, and making som repairs to the man-holes. The cost will be very mate ally less than that estimate. probably not half.

~NO MEDICIliE CHALETS: THE additions to the Two Medicine 18x18 chalets at a cost of 'lP3"OOO.OO could, if yo"u wish. be postponed. I

1 am in hopes we will be able to built Two Medi atne up, now that we have wln t I think will be a popular horseback trip operating through there as a result of Mr. Noffsinger

. establishing a tent camp iIi the Red Eagle. We never have bad Two Medicine fillea to oapaci ty. I would not feel like urging this improvement until I show you we can develope the business for it.

GOING-TO-TEE-SUN CHALE!S:

Item marked 1, prO-Videa for use of varnish. I think we . should be very oareful where we put vamish. Onoe 8 piece of wood is varnished no thing else can be done with it except put on more varnish. I think, wrere ne oessary the use of boiled 011, O'Oedar oil or stain will be pref-erable. ~

In view of the Government IS letter intimating the. t a. hotel be bull t on Logan Pass. I woulil" not feel justified in urging th1s $65,000.00 expenditQ~e. which would run to i 75.000.00 by the time the place was furnished until the question is definitely determined as to wl:etbe r or not a hotel is bullt on~o~ s, either by us or other lntere8~s.A hotel on Logan ]ass would surely cause e. great decliDr in business at Ca~. Muoh as we need additional facili ies a Sun Oamp, under preeent oonditions I think the matter should be fully oonsidered in oonnection with the possibility of a new hotel as Close as Logan EBss.

I do favor the installation of a ydro elect~ic plant. fhis w ill enable us to put more 1 gh ts into Going-to-tbe-Sun Camp, which are needed, and operate more eoonomioally.

Mr. L. W. Hill:- .

Concerning wind velocities at Waterton Lakes Park hotel site

and at t he Glac ier Par'r Hotel :

Anemometers were set un so that readings began at Glacier

Park March Bthanu at Waterton Lakes Park March 12th.

At Waterton Lakes Park during the month of March the period

from the 16th to 23rd was very windy, the highest average velocity for

a twelve hour period being 4~ miles per hour . They did not report the

maxil1lllIIl velocity, but to nroduce an average of 46·~ miles for a twelve

hour period there must have been short gusts of a maximum velocity of

from 60 to 75 miles per hour . General dire·ction of the wind was S .S.VI .

which the Par'r A TIthori ties advise is the nrevailing direction of the

higb inds there.

During April the period from ~he 19th to the'22nd was quite

windy. maximL~ of 50 miles per hour being reached . General direction

of the ~ind S.S .W.

At Glacier from March +7th to 23rd was

very wi roy . maximum of 55 mil being reached on the 17th and

21st , and 70 miles per hour on the 23rd .

During April the only high wind period was from the 16th to

22rd , when maximum velocities of 40 miles ~er hour were recorded .

Please note that the dates and maximum velocities of · the

highest wind in March and April were practically the same for both Waterton·

Lakes Park and Glacier Park Hotel .
