COMMUNITY STANDARDS

Abbotsford Christian School (ACS) is a community which defines itself primarily as a group of believers in and

followers of Jesus Christ who wish to provide their children with an education which honors their faith commit-

ment. Members of this community acknowledge God as revealed in the Bible and in the person of Jesus Christ to

be sovereign in all areas of life. All of life is worship. Christian life is not a part-time endeavor. It is this fundamen-

tal understanding which provides the foundation for and informs the Christian education provided by ACS.

A significant emphasis for a community which claims God as the Lord of all of life is the unity of home, church and

school. The expectation of the ACS community is that each of these important elements in a student’s life will

complement and build up the others, since all endeavors in life are subject to the same faith commitment.

We also acknowledge as a community that our world is tainted and marred by the effects of sin. Failure to consist-

ently remain true to God’s teaching and the need for forgiveness are a fact of life. Accordingly, ACS expects all

persons with influence over our students to model behavior and lifestyle choices consistent with the Christian walk

of faith in all areas of their lives, both school related and non-school related. Teachers, administrators and em-

ployees are required to sign a Community Standards Policy (CSP) document as part of their employment con-

tract. Board and Committee members also sign a CSP prior to commencing their volunteer service. Parents, as

an integral and essential part of the ACS community, are also required to acknowledge their acceptance of, un-

derstanding and support for ACS’s vision and its community standards by signing this document.

The community standards are reflected in our core beliefs. They include:

Truth: Learning, living and teaching in obedience to God’s truth; discerning, engaging and influencing cul-

ture with the hope of Christ’s redemption.

Respect: Regarding each person as an image bearer of Christ, in love, integrity and openness.

This exposition and application of the ACS Community Standards is not offered as a legalistic definition of right

and wrong. Rather, it provides concrete examples of a covenantal commitment to the mission of ACS and a com-

but nonetheless, they are desirable and essential if all members of the community are to achieve their personal

goals. Parental and student submission to the society’s constitution and its policies, including the Code of Con-

TUITION & FEES POLICY

The business office is here to assist you in dealing with financial matters as they relate to ACS and your child’s educa-

tion. Timely communication with the business office is key in administering the tuition and fees policy that follow, and

assistance can only be provided with open, yet confidential, communications.

TUITION PAYMENTS - all rates are established each June for the following year Tuition includes student course fees, as well as field trip and activity fees. The business office will email you a letter with tuition rates for your family. If starting in September, you will receive this after June 15. If applicable to you, it will include your updated ACS bus fees. Due September 1, payable by the following options:

2% discount: paid in full first day of school

1% discount: two installments on September 1 and February 1

Pre-authorized payment plan over 10 months

OTHER FEES

Overnight Trip Fees: Examples– sports tournaments, Nicaragua and Europe trip, band trip, etc.

UNPAID ACCOUNTS

30-days arrears: When arrears have aged for 30 days, the business office will advise the person with arrears

of the delinquency and request payment in full within seven days.

60-days arrears: When arrears have aged for 60 days, the business office will again advise the person with arrears of

the delinquency and will request a firm payment date or written repayment plan proposal, the latter to be approved at

the sole discretion of the Executive Director.

90-days arrears: When arrears have aged for 90 days, the person with arrears will be contacted for the third

and final time requesting payment in full or a written repayment plan. Furthermore, a late payment fee of the greater

amount of 10% of the amount owing and $175.00 shall be added to the person’s account. Such communication will

also include the information that upon 120 days of aging, the debt may be forwarded to an external agency for collec-

tions, after which the debtor will need to deal with the collection agency only in settling the collection of the debt. The

business office will instruct the administrative staff not to release report cards to the student(s) of the parent(s) with

arrears, and the Executive Director may limit the participation of students in certain extracurricular activities.

If tuition is not paid in full or an approved payment plan is not in place before January 15 or August 15 of each school

year, the student will not be re-enrolled in the new school year or semester.

NOTICE: Once a student has been enrolled at ACS, a minimum of 30 days written notice of withdrawal shall be required after which

tuition fee billings will stop. Adjustments or refunds of prepaid tuition fees will only be made for those paid fees that have not yet been receipted

for donation purposes.
