This article talks about on how the DDoS are a bigger problem to all multi and international
companies. DDoS attacks first appeared in the new in February 2000 taking down the big
mayor web services like Amazon, Ebay, Yahoo; that was the start of the new era of DDoS
attacks.
Victims of these crippling and widespread Internet-based attacks includes Internet service
providers. Emerging technologies introduce additional vulnerabilities that put today´s
networks at even greater risk of security threats.
The primary aim in a DoS attack is to render the target system completely useless. This is
usually done using one of the two strategies. The first strategy is a flood attacks, involves
sending the target a lot of packages or request overloading the system and bringing them
down. The second strategy is a logic attack known as exploits software bugs on the target
system in an effort to take it offline.
The U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) estimates that computer crime costs
American companies $62 billion a year.
Most if this attacks are financed by the underground economy (black market) just to make
more money by taking down a web service.
