Men and women share housework. Traditionally it was women who did the

housework and they have always been less

valued than men. Nowadays this is starting to change: women

are starting to have jobs so men have to helpat home.

Women used to be the ones who had to takecare of the children and men didn·t even think about helping them.

Nowadays in almost every family both parentsget involved on their children·s education.

Both boys and girls have to study primary andsecondary school.

They both have exactly the same chances.

For parents, boys and girls have the sameduties.

Nowadays there are more women studying atUniversity than men.

Usually girls get better grades than boys.

Women tend to prefer studying languages andother studies such as medicine or biology whilemen tend to prefer the technical ones.

The statistics say that, on average, men·ssalaries are higher than women·s

salaries. This happens not because when doing

the same job men earn more moneythan women, but because they usually

occupy higher positions at work. At work men and women are both

equally valued and respected by their colleagues.

In Spain women got the rights to vote in1924, but only some of them. But it

wasn·t until after the dictatorship that allwomen could vote as men did.

In Spain women have always kept their surnames when they got married whichis something very unusual in Europe.

Abortion is allowed until the 12th week ofpregnancy.
