EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

As an emerging country, the economy of Bangladesh is expanding day by day. To keep pace with its

growing financial activities, a number of Banks have been established in the last few decades. Dhaka

Bank is one of the premier private-owned banks in the country.

Dhaka Bank Ltd. was registered as a public limited company in the year 1994 under the Companies Act.

The Bank started its commercial operation on July 05, 1995 with an authorized capital of Tk. 1,000

million and paid up capital of Tk. 100 million. The Bank has 62 Branches, 3 SME Service Centers, 6

CMS Units, 2 offshore Banking Unit across the country and a wide network of correspondents all over

the world. The Bank has plans to open more Branches in the current fiscal year to expand the network.

Day by day, they are increasing their goodwill by providing good service. As their goal is to become the

leading bank in the industry, they believe that it can only be achieved by focusing exclusively on their

customers. Not only do they listen and respond to their customer's needs, they also try to go far above

their expectations.

Dhaka bank provides high quality products and services backed by latest technology. It has a team of

highly motivated personnel to deliver Excellence in Banking. Overall,

the bank is a very important place to study the behavior of its consumers and provide useful insights what

a customer expects from the bank. It is only through research that a bank will be able to study the

preferences and behavior of consumers.

1. INTRODUCTION

A Bank not only accepts money or deposits, but it also lends money and creates its own

credit, Crowther has defined a bank as “a dealer in debts- his own and of other people.”

Sawyers states, “We can define a bank as an institution whose debts (bank deposits) are

widely accepted in settlement of other peoples debts to each other”.

2. Objective

The first objectives of preparing this report were to fulfill the course requirement. The other

objectives were to identify the performance review of Dhaka Bank Ltd.

3. Scope

Our scope on Dhaka bank branches of Dhanmondi and Kawran Bazaar.

4. Limitation

During preparing this report there were time and cost limitation.

9. RECOMMENDATIONS

Based on the evaluation of different aspects of the credit process of Dhaka Bank, the following

recommendations have been made:

* Care should also be taken so that good borrowers are not discarded due to strict adherence to

the lending policy.

* At the branch level credit department must be adequately capable of collecting the correct and

relevant information and analyzing the financial statements quickly and precisely.

* Credit officer must be skilled enough to understand the manipulated and distorted financial

statements.

* Credit committees at all levels must work in co-ordination with each other for quick approval

of loans and to reduce the loan processing cost.

* To expedite the lending process, board credit committee meeting should be held twice a month

instead of once a month.

* Monitoring of a loan should be conducted at regular interval to enhance the borrower is

properly maintaining the mortgage property and utilizing the borrowing money

Ans: They organize various training programs to improve their productivity.

2. What is your working hour?

Ans: There general office time is 10 am – 6 pm. But the employee who deals with

customers their work time is 10 am to 5.00 pm. And the employee who do internal jobs

they work 10.00 am to 8.00 pm.

3. How you maintain your office life and family life?

Ans: Actually it differs person to person. When they entered in office they get engaged

with their job. In office time they stay connected with their family by phone or email. But

if they need to leave office for any serious reason they need to take permission from

authority. The person who have children specially women they face some problems. They

can’t take proper care of their children. They have to keep their child to their other family

members or house keeper. They also face major problems after returning home from

office. After returning home they need to prepare meal for their family.

4. Do you face any gender discriminations in your organization? If yes, what type’s

discriminations you face?

Ans: According to male employee said that they don’t face any gender discrimination in

their organization. They all believe that all male and female employees they get equal

facilities. But some male employee said that female employee considers some extra

facilities. Like: extra leave, less work pressure, they get transportation facility.

But the entire female employee said that they don’t face any kind of gender

discrimination. They get equal facility like male employee.

5. Do you get any childcare facilities?

Ans: They only get 3 month pregnancy leave.

6. Medical Support system of this organization.

Ans: They get a great medical support from this organization. Every employee gets 100%

medical support. They also get 100% medical support for their parents and for other

family members like brothers, sisters and children they get 50% medical support. But the

support for their family medical fees is deducted from the pension money.

7. What types of Bonuses you get from your organization?

Ans: They gets festival bonus 2 times in a year.

8. What types of reward you get from your organization?

Ans: They get bonus on yearly profits based on company share. They also get merit base

bonuses. They don’t get any overtime compensation.

9. Do you get pay for performance?

Ans: Yes they get paid for their performance. Their performances have great effect on

their promotion.

10. Do you have any Job redesigned opportunity?

Ans: There is shifting opportunity for the employees.

They have job rotation after certain periods that’s depends on top managers.

They have 100% job sharing system. If an employee is absence there is always someone

who carries on those works.

11. How you maintain work balance?

Ans: Most of them say that, this is their personal matter. This depends on that person that

how he or she balance their work.

12. What is the lacking in your organization? And what do you think that how to

overcome those lacking?

Ans: They hardly found any lacking in their organization. Their expression says that they

are highly satisfied with their work environment, have a very good relation with sub

ordinates, they gets enough salary so that they are enough motivated. But in the credit

sector they face a lot number of customers every day. There is lots of rush and face too

much crowd. There is lots of responsibility so that they don’t get any free time. They are

always aware so that they don’t make any mistake and get penalty for that.

13. What is your level of satisfaction out of 100?

Ans: For the male employee give their marks 85 to 95 out of 100. And the female

employee they give their marks 90 to 98. So we can conclude that they are highly

satisfied with their job.

11. CONCLUSION

Most of the Banks in Bangladesh are offering a wide array of financial services including new

types of loans and advances and some whole new services are being launched every year. Dhaka

Bank, a bank of difference, also has discovered new avenues to reach its goals. For the brand

name, it is gone to people’s heart through updating various services. Dhaka Bank should

diversify its credit portfolio Dhaka Bank so that in near future when competition among Banks

will serve, it can stand with its own identity. The Credit Risk Management method that may

seem fit today may not work tomorrow. So all the Financial Institutions must find their own

method in order to sustain in the changing world. Central focus in this regard would be to have a

comprehensive Information Technology system, sufficient expertise and above all very relaxed

management to adopt new idea to update Credit Risk Management method. Now Bank Asia is

continuing business operation successfully in Bangladesh through developing an image and

goodwill among its clientele by offering its excellent services. The success has been resulted

from the dedication, commitment and dynamic leadership of its management. During the short

span of time of its operation, has Dhaka Bank successfully grabbed a position as a highly

progressive and dynamic financial institution in the country. By proliferation of new advance

services, expanding use of automated equipment and electronic transfer of financial inform

Dhaka Bank action, will be the country’s first largest institution in the near future.
