Piecing Instructions for Block G:1. Take 4 of the 3.5” AMH squares and piece two
of them together. Repeat. Then sew them together to you have a four patch block equaling 6.5” x 6.5”.
2. Take 4 of the Lagoon petal templates and 4 of the cut out fusible interfacing pieces.
3. With the interfacing glue dots right side up, lay a petal right side down on top of it.
4. Pin in place. Sew around the entire perimeter with a 1/4” seam allowance.
5. Cut notches in the seam allowance, being careful not to snip the stitching. Take a seam ripper and make a slit in the center of the fusible interfacing, being careful not to cut the fabric
6. Turn right side out, and use point turner aid to turn out the curves by inserting inside the seam. Finger press the edges so none of the interfacing is visible from the top view when the colored fabric is right side up. Pin in place.
7. Position the petal with the fusible interfacing glue dots touching the AMH fabric. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for fusing the interfacing to the fabric. Repeat with the other three petals so they are centered diagonally in separate quadrants.

2. Sew 1/4” on both sides of this line.
3. Cut on the drawn line to yield 2 HST units. Press open.
4. Place both HST units RST, being mindful of the placement, and making sure the midline seam nests well. Pin in place
5. Draw a diagonal line perpendicular to the seam already sewn. Sew a 1/4” seam allowance on both sides of the drawn line. Cut on the drawn line.
6. This will yield two quarter-square-triangles. Press seams. Trim fi nished quarter square triangles to 2.5” x 2.5”, being sure to center the 1 1/4” mark in the center of the square.

Assembling the Quilt1. Organize the blocks just constructed into stacks
by block. It will be easier to fi nd the one you need when following the layout guide.
2. You will need (10) 1.5” x 6.5” AMH sashing strips for each row’s construction. Take the fi rst block in each row and sew one sashing strip to each side (left and right).
3. After the fi rst block, you will sew one sashing strip to the right side of each remaining block in that row.
4. Do this with all of the blocks in row 1. 5. Repeat steps 1-4 for rows 2-9. 6. Assemble the sashing strips that will go
between each row. You will need a total of 10 completed sashing strips, each made up of (9) 1.5” x 6.5” AMH strips and (10) Joel Dewberry 1.5” x 1.5” squares.
7. To construct one strip, you will start with the Joel Dewberry 1.5” x 1.5” square, and sew an AMH strip to it. Continue alternating fabrics until you end with the last square of Joel Dewberry fabric fi g 28.
8. Repeat step 7 to complete 10 sashing strips. 9. Layout each completed row. Take row 1 and
place a sashing strip on the top and bottom of row 1. Pin them in place, making sure your seam intersections line up correctly. Sew together with a 1/4” seam allowance.
10. After row 1, you will take the remaining rows 2-9 and sew one sashing strip to each row, along the bottom of the row only.
11. Press seams. 12. Now you will attach row 1, with the sashing to
the top of row 2. Then row 2 with row 3, and so on, until your quilt top is completed.
13. Press seams.
Prepare Quilt Backing1. The fi nished quilt top measures 64” x 64”, so
backing fabric should be at least 72” x 72”, at a minimum.
2. Take the 2 pieces of WOF x 72” backing fabric that was cut from the cut list. Or, use remaining fabric from Michael Miller fabric collection, piecing it together to create a 72” square. Trim the selvages away and place the 2 pieces right sides together. Pin in place along one 72” edge. Stitch a seam with a 1/2” seam allowance to connect the two pieces together. Press the seam. Press the entire backing fabric so it is free from wrinkles.

Make the Quilt Sandwich 3. Place the backing fabric wrong side up on a
smooth surface. 4. Place the batting on top of the backing fabric
and smooth. 5. Place the completed quilt top right side up on
top of the batting. Smooth the top.6. With safety pins or basting spray, baste the
layers together to prepare for quilting.7. Attach Acufeed foot AD and quilt as desired
(minimum quilting distance may depend on the type of batting used—be sure to read the specifi cations the manufacturer provides).
8. When quilting is completed, square up the quilt, trimming away excess batting and backing.
Preparing the Binding9. For the binding of the quilt, about 268” of
binding is needed. Cut approximately 7 strips, each 2.5” wide by the width of the fabric.
10. Attach the strips with a 1/4” seam allowance. Press the connecting seams open as well.
11. Press the entire length of binding in half (wrong sides together) so the binding is roughly 1-1/4” wide when folded. Measure the length of your binding to make sure you have at least 268” total.
12. Bind the quilt as desired.
