About Granville & Districts Soccer Football AssociationThe Granville & Districts Soccer Football Association (GDSFA) is recorded as the country’s oldest
Soccer Football Association with a long and proud history stretching back to the earliest days of the
round ball game in Australia. It all commenced in the early 1880’s when local Scottish migrants played
at Clyde Oval on the corner of Berry Street and Parramatta Road Granville/Clyde, currently the
Mitsubishi site.
For decades the GDSFA covered more than one third of Greater Sydney, stretching from Homebush to
the Blue Mountains and Windsor to the Macarthur area. After WWII the GDSFA assisted in the
formation of new Associations include Southern Districts, Nepean and Blacktown.
Throughout our history a number of logos have been used to represent the GDSFA. With the recent
departure of the Hills clubs, the opportunity exists now to design a new logo that is respectful of our
history but at the same time one that we can rally behind and compete proudly for moving into the
future. Be it strong, bold, dramatic or contemporary, we will let you decide!
Design GuidelinesYour design should resemble the community of the GDSFA, that is, contemporary, professional,
inclusive and must respect the Association’s history and heritage such as including ‘since or
established 1902’. The design should have observable continuity between GDSFA current and legacy
logos and appeal across generations and have appeal to the cultural diversity of our community. The
below must be followed:
Be creative, original and not previously published in Australia or abroad.
Reflect GDSFA history and heritage and ‘Since 1902’ is to be included in the design.
Have a magpie. The magpie can face any direction or be any size. Must be recognised as a magpie.
Not include any copyright (photograph, icon, symbol) by any organisation/club/society
Be legible when reproduced in small and large scale
Represent the identify and emotion of GDSFA:
• Identity: Contemporary and modern that also meets the history and heritage of GDSFA.
• Value: Innovative, community, quality, professional, simple
• Emotions: Inclusive, unity, strength

Western Sydney Wanderers
The NRMA Insurance Western Sydney Wanderers FC is a football club which has been established to
represent Western Sydney in the Hyundai A-League since April 2012. The constitution of the club
preserves its founding principles of “for the people of western Sydney, by the people of western
Sydney”. The official club logo incorporates the key elements of the Western Sydney landscape; the
mountains, valleys and winding river system that run throughout the region. The badge captures the
unity and intertwined multicultural community that the Wanderers represent.
Dubbed “Australia’s newest, oldest club” in respect to the long history of football in the region, the
Western Sydney Wanderers have, through their name, a linkage to the first ever game of football
played in New South Wales on 14 August 1880 between the King’s School and the Wanderers in
North Parramatta.
The Wanderers made history by becoming the first Australian club to win the Asian Champions
