In order to give a more personalized answer to french users and data provider needs, GBIF France started last year important new developments. These are based on two closely related tools:

-A local repository of french biodiversity data (around 15 million records) based on ‘NoSQL’ technology, and its fast access via GBIF France Portal

-An interactive webmapping application to explore and visualize this data in form of maps.

The developed web-mapping application gives visual tools to request GBIF France datasets, browse its occurrences taxonomy to finally plot it on an interactive map.

Users can also get a good overview of each dataset or institution in form of polygonal maps (number of occurrences per polygon and biodiversity maps).
