    Happy first week of school!

Thank you to the drum line, who performed at the freshman orientation on Thursday,

and thank you to the band members and parents who were available to attend the

    makeup football game on Saturday!

This week is the beginning of a more “normal” band schedule. We will have practice Tuesday 6:30-9 (yes, the

evening of the first day of school), Wednesday and Thursday from 4-6. Friday we will have our first away

football game pep band at Oscar Smith. Report time will be 5:30 PM in the band boom.

Hope everyone has a great week!

  • Thank you to everyone for the wonderful support you showed the band at the Parent

Preview last Tuesday! I hope you enjoyed the surprise from Mr. Ross. It was fun seeing

the joy the students got from watching their families on the field. I think it gave us all a

greater appreciation for all the hard work the band has put into the show before school

even starts. Thank you, Mr. Ross, for letting us experience part of the process.

Thank you to everyone who came out and helped with concessions and the students on

short notice Saturday. We probably set a record on water sales! The parent response for volunteering has

been exceptional so far this year. Please continue to check Charms for opportunities to serve the band. We

need your help to achieve the goals we have for the year.

    Go Wildcats!

Marching Wildcat Meals at Home Games

To reduce time spent in concession lines at home football games and to maximize time

playing for the green and gold, we have students preorder their meals. If your

Marching Wildcat would like to eat at HOME football games, he/she MUST PREPAY for

their Wildcat Dinner Combo. Payments will be accepted on Wednesday and Thursday

after marching practice during the week of the home game. The cost is $5 (cash or

check payable to GBBPA) and includes a hamburger, cheeseburger, OR hot dog, chips and water bottle. At

the game on Friday, a table will be set up near the South Concession stand with the student’s meal ready for

    a quick pick up.

    Scrip Tips of the Week

    Scrip Tips

Thank-Scrip-ing Day is coming on September 17th, and you’ll be doing your happy

dance when you earn big bonus rebates on eGift cards and reloads to your physical

gift cards across a variety of shopping categories. Open your Scrip accounts now,

so you’re ready to take advantage of the bonuses.

Don't forget that Scrip orders are due on the first and third Fridays of the month, making September 7th the

next deadline. We also have Scrip in inventory and ScripNow ecards can be purchased, both are available

shortly after you pay for the cards. You don't have to wait!

How do I order Scrip? Go to shopwithscrip.com. Create a family account. You will need the enrollment code:

69677AL212856. This code links your family account to the band. Simply place your order. Then an email is

sent to me letting me know there is a pending order. Easy!

  • THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU!

Thank you, Marc Leonetti, for organizing concessions and getting us ready for the

    season!

Thank you to Towne Bank for the $1,000 donation to support the band!

Many thanks to Natosha Gorski for approaching AERMOR for a corporate donation! The company donated

$1,000 to our uniform fund! The support is much appreciated!

    JOIN the TEAM!!

Come out and join the Chaperone Team. Marching Wildcat Chaperones are always

needed for home and away football games as well as our weekend band competitions.

If you would like to help and hang out with the kids and be a part of the Marching Wildcat action, please email Doug Wilkins at [email protected] or call/text 757-544-

3154 with your name and contact number. Doug will contact you to see what events

    you are available to attend.

Concessions is looking for someone that can help as an assistant. This person

could possibly help open and close the concession stands, help determine what is

needed to order and assist with off season activities. No experience is necessary,

and you would only need to do what you feel comfortable with.

If this is something you may be interested in, please contact Marc Leonetti at

    [email protected] or text 757-328-8623.

We have started the Fair Pay system. This points system is not to get more

money from you, but to get more people involved in the fun (yes it really is!) of being a

band parent. It is good to meet the other parents of the kids you are hearing about,

and be part of a community.

The Fair Pay system is designed to get you, the parent, involved. Often, people do not know how to start, and this here is a start. Each Family is required to

volunteer to a total of $250. This comes out to about 5 events a year. From working a

concession stand, helping collect tickets at the Chili cook off, running a fundraiser,

    everything can earn points.

If you log into CHARMS and look under the point system, each option is set up for the number of points to be earned. This is how we will track the Fair Pay system, so you can see what you have earned and

    what is left.

Most events are 50 points. Work all 5 football games or chaperone all others, and you would be done.

We will not be paying you if you do over the $250, but by then I think you will be hooked and involved

anyways. If you do not make the $250 by December, we will reach out to you. There is always something to

do, and always something, you can do.

If you have questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to ask.

    Sincerely,

    Richard Okrasinski

    Hello Wildcat Parents,

I hope you had a wonderful summer and are ready for our awesome kids to get the

2018 marching season going. We have some details to take care of as we prepare to serve

the young men and women who are a part of the program.

First, With the heightened measures to ensure safety of our students, we're asking

ALL adult volunteers to submit information for background checks via the link:

    https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdR5mwwyHgqHe1vDxSZpmY5xeorUE0rgcJWh50NhZBH6bYJ

    SQ/viewform

It's easy and takes less than a minute to complete.

Second, please watch the 7:48 minute video located at https://youtu.be/AqtQ_k1T96U if you're going

to volunteer with the band (video is titled for chaperones, but we're asking all our adult volunteers to watch

it). We don't have access to the Chesapeake Public Schools' form for you to sign off after watching the video,

but we'll get it to you when it becomes available.

Please contact me if you have any questions. Thank you for helping us take steps to ensure the safety of our

    children!

    Sincerely,

    Erin Oliphant
