Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College, which has its Jackson County home in Gautier, is on the list of Fastest Growing Community Colleges in America.

The City of Gautier has the only Veterans Tribute Tower in Mississippi. Located on U.S. 90 in front of Gautier City Hall, the tower is dedicated to honoring the men and women of our armed services. It stands as a lasting tribute to honor past veterans, salute to present day veterans and inspiration for the future of all veterans.

The Woodland Indians left their mark on Gautier in the form of a Graveline Bayou Indian Mound, believed to be used for ceremonial and burial purposes. The rectangular mound, located on Barracuda Drive, was built about 1,500 years ago.

David Glasgow Farragut, the U.S. Navy’s first admiral, spent his childhood on the west bank of the Pascagoula River in Gautier. He’s best known for the famous Naval quote: “Damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead!”
