    ear Parents:

hank you for another wonderful year. This has been a year of manytremes for Garden Gate. On one end, we were facing deep budget cutsd employee lay-offs. On the other end, Garden Gate was named a

alifornia Distinguished School. What a contrast!

ur community and district employees set the standard for what can happenhen you put your mind and heart to it. All of our employees agreed to fiverlough days in order to save positions. Our community, both parents and

usiness, banded together under TFIN and CEEF to raise over $2,000,000 to saveass size reduction in grades one through three.

hrough all of the upheaval and uncertainty, life went on at our school sites. Your children received thest we could give them in educational experiences and we asked for their best in learning in return. Wed lots of exciting learning experiences, lots of laughter and fun. Although some may argue with me,eres no better vantage point to enjoy life than working at an elementary school!

hank you, again, for everything you do for Garden Gate!

ave a wonderful summer and I hope we see you back at Garden Gate on August 19, 2010. If youre notturning, we hope that you will remember that you were part of our Gator community and, when you

    member, you smile!

PARENT TEACHER ASSOCIATION (PTA) NEWS & RESOURCES

    UNITY

I dreamed I stood in a studio and watched twosculptors there.

The clay they used was a young childs mindand they fashioned it with care.

One was a teacher;the tools she used were books and music and art.

One was a parent with a guiding handand gentle loving heart.

And when at last their work was done, they wereproud of what they had wrought.

For the things they had worked into the child could

never be sold or bought. And each agreed she would have failed

    if she had worked alone.

For behind the parent stood the school, and behind the teachers stood the home.
