Has it really been 18 years? It seems only yesterday that we first gathered to celebrate the musical legacy and heritage of Jerry Garcia and the Grateful Dead. I couldn’t be more thrilled to be setting up camp again in Bridgeport’s majestic Seaside Park, and whether this is your first visit or you’re a returning member of our extended family, the VibeTribe, we’re elated that you’ve decided to join us.

For those who may not be aware, in 1865, then Bridgeport Mayor, P.T. Barnum owned and subsequently donated this magnificent waterfront property to the City of Bridgeport. My understanding is that within the transfer of ownership agreement, it was made clear that Seaside Park always be preserved as open space and for recreational activities. I believe our annual gathering falls under recreational activities, and I’m certain Mr. Barnum looks upon us all with joy as we rejoice and celebrate with one another.

“NothiNg left to do but smile, smile, smile…” The music of the Grateful Dead inspired so many of us over the years. I’m ecstatic to welcome Phil Lesh & Friends for not one, but two stellar nights this year. It’s an honor to have Warren Haynes & Gov’t Mule with us once again. I’m pleased to welcome new bands to the family; be sure to check out electro-rockers Jimkata on Friday, who are tearing up the festival scene; or Road to the Vibes winners Consider The Source. I’m excited to have John Popper & Blues Traveler performing at the Vibes for the first time, and to be bringing in late night DJ sets from two of EDM’s creators, Rob Garza and James Murphy. Southern rockers The Black Crowes will bring the festival to a rocking close on Sunday night.

Swing by the School of Rock on the Teen Vibes Stage and see the passion in these kids as they command the stage. Teaching our children well is what life’s all about.

I want to thank the City of Bridgeport, its residents and all who have supported the Vibes since our return in 2007. My thanks also goes out to you, the VibeTribe; your kindness to one another and collective love of artistic endeavors is the reason this festival has endured and traveled down so many roads. While you’re listening to the stellar live music, or enjoying the fine array of food and drink, or simply strolling down vendor row with friends and family, look around at all the smiling faces & embrace the communal spirit – it’s a beautiful thing!

We have an on-site, 24-hour hotline available should you have any questions or need a helping hand. Call the Hotline at 203.908.3030 anytime, day or night – we’re here for you!

Again, with my most sincere gratitude, I thank everyone who has come together and worked so hard to bring the Vibes to life once again this year.

Be safe, spread the love & ENJOY your weekend here at the Vibes,

- Ken Hays

Welcome back to the Vibes my frieNds!

Phil lEsh & FRiENDs – Proudly representing the American musical tradition that is the Grateful Dead, Phil Lesh & Friends featuring John Scofield, John Medeski, Joe Russo, and John Kadlecik continue to inspire, introducing different influences into the heritage of this legendary band. All of the incarnations of Phil & Friends have followed a trend of “updating” the Grateful Dead’s massive body of work, and all have been extremely adept at the long, exploratory jams that were its trademark. We booked two nights of Phil to celebrate our 18th birthday, to keep the spirit and vibe alive, and remind all of us what a long, strange trip it’s been.

Gov’t Mule – Led by guitarist/lead vocalist Warren Haynes, with drummer Matt Abts, keyboardist Danny Louis, and bass man Jorgen Carlsson - has defined themselves as one of the most rocking bands on the scene today. Releasing more than 16 studio and live recordings over the years, they’ve become a staple act at music festivals across North America. Frequent guest members from other notable bands add various funk and blues rock elements to the group’s sound. Truly one of the best bands in the land, we’re honored to welcome Gov’t Mule back to Vibes.

ThE BlACk CROWEs – At the time of their 1990 debut, the kind of rock ‘n’ roll that The Black Crowes specialized in, “a vintage Stones-style raunch,” was sorely underrepresented. The Black Crowes echoed classic rock without slavishly imitating their influences, and the band’s nostalgic sound helped launch a long, popular career. They return to the Vibes after a two year hiatus with guitarist Jackie Green replacing Luther Dickinson, and with the same powerhouse, southern rock ‘n’ soul sound we love.

TEDEsChi TRuCks BAND – This band is carving out a nice niche for themselves by becoming synonymous with their Rhythm & Blues & Gospel sound. Husband and wife duo Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi put their respective namesake bands on indefinite hiatus in 2010, and merged members of both bands to form TTB in effort to spend more time together as a family. Well known for soulful and inspirationally moving live performances, TTB will bring you to a different place, and we couldn’t be more excited to have the band returning to the Vibes.

gRACE POTTER & ThE NOCTuRNAls – This Vermont based band have boldly pushed their own definition of “jam-blues-pop-rock ‘n’ country”. Grace Potter plays the Hammond B3, Fender Rhodes, Wurlitzer Electric Piano, and acoustic guitar. The other members of the band are; Scott Tournet, on guitars (including slide guitar) and harmonica, drummer Matthew Burr, Benny Yurco on electric guitar, and Michael Libramento - bass guitar, keyboards, percussion, backing vocals. Together they put on one of the best live shows you’ll ever see. Welcome back to Vibes GPN!

ThE ROOTs – One of our favorite house bands ever, it’s astounding to think that this famed hip-hop band has yet to perform at Gathering of the Vibes. The instrumental, Philadelphia bred eight-piece band was formed in 1987 by Tariq “Black Thought” Trotter and Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson. Their festival sets are often show stealers, memorable for their energetic, eclectic approach to hip-hop and crowd encompassing performances. Join us as we welcome The Roots to Vibes. Don’t miss this set!

funky MeteRS - Formed during an informal jam at the 1994 New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the funky Meters combined Art Neville and George Porter Jr. of The Original Meters, with drummer Russell Batiste Jr., and guitarist Brian Stolz. Every member of this band has been inaugurated as VibeTribe - they’ve all performed on our stage one or many times, in one incarnation or another. That’s what makes these men true legends; they can play anything at any time. Laissez les bons temps rouler, VibeTribe!

JOhN BuTlER TRiO – In 2011, this Australian based trio – John Butler (guitar), Nicky Bomba (drums and percussion), Byron Luiters (bass) - closed the Gathering of the Vibes festival with an inspirational, rocking set of blues and roots rock that drew one of the largest Sunday crowds we’ve ever had. You’ve been asking us to bring them back for a reprisal performance ever since. Show the love for the melodic, funky, phat and rockin’ sound of John Butler Trio. A perfect match for Gathering of the Vibes!

gAlACTiC - Continuing our celebration of all things funk, we proudly welcome Galactic back to Seaside. Galactic was formed eighteen years ago in New Orleans, and they cut their teeth playing the biggest party in America: Mardi Gras, when the entire town shuts down to celebrate. To make Carnivale Electricos, the members of Galactic (Ben Ellman, harps and horns; Robert Mercurio, bass; Stanton Moore, drums and percussion; Jeff Raines, guitar; Rich Vogel, keyboards) draw on the skills, stamina, and funk they deploy at the all-night party of their annual Lundi Gras show that goes till sunrise and leads sleeplessly into Mardi Gras day.

DARk sTAR ORChEsTRA – This band’s Thursday night tribute performances have become legends, and definitely one of the most talked about sets of the entire festival. On any given night the band will perform a show based on a set list from the Grateful Dead’s 30 years of extensive touring. As campers and fans set up tents, finding friends old and new, “What set do you think DSO will perform tonight?” is certainly one of the most anticipated questions around the park. We’re proud to welcome back DSO for a performance dedicated to the forbearers of the jam scene and the inspiration for this festival.

ORigiNAl sTRANgEFOlk – In 2012, Gathering of The Vibes was pleased to welcome the reunion of the original Strangefolk line-up; Jon Trafton, Reid Genauer, Erik Glockler and Luke Smith, back to Seaside Park. One of the bands to play at the first Vibes in 1996, we’re thrilled to have them here to celebrate our 18th year. In a nod to the Grateful Dead, the band performed “Touch Of Grey” last July, receiving a huge ovation for their lovely rendition of the song, everyone joining in on the infectious chorus, “We will survive!” Rock!

RAilROAD EARTh – This New Jersey based six-piece hasn’t performed at the Gathering of the Vibes since 2007, and we couldn’t be more thrilled to have the band returning to Seaside Park this year. With a name linked to a Jack Kerouac short story, this folk rock band infuses elements of bluegrass, Celtic jazz, rock, and jam improvisation, to put on one of the most moving and inspirational sets of live music on the scene today. With a very large repertoire of songs to choose from, and the veteran talent of all six members of the band, Railroad Earth’s set at Vibes is not to be missed.

BluEs TRAvElER – This New Jersey based rock band has been rocking stages large and small since forming in 1987, and spearheading the revival of modern rock festivals in the early ‘90’s by establishing the H.O.R.D.E (Horizons Of Rock Developing Everywhere) touring music festival. Currently, the group is comprised of singer and harmonica player John Popper, guitarist Chan Kinchla, drummer Brendan Hill, bassist Tad Kinchla, and keyboardist Ben Wilson. They are touring following the release of a double-disk compilation entitled 25 on Hip-O Records commemorating the band’s silver anniversary, and their most recent studio album Suzie Cracks the Whip. We couldn’t be more excited to welcome this talented band into the Vibes family.

ASSeMbly of DuSt – A VibeTribe favorite, AOD is singer-songwriter Reid Genauer, Adam Terrell, John Leccesse, and two newer members; Jason Crosby and Dave Diamond (Drums). Sun Shot is their recent release, an Alt-Country and rock ‘n’ roll hybrid, with beautifully written lyrics, raw chords, and heartfelt harmonies that have come to define Assembly of Dust. Welcome back guys!

MAx CReek – In those rare instances that a band reaches its fourth decade, it’s usually because each member has a jet and techs on retainer, and the world tour rolls around every few years. But that’s not how Max Creek has done it. In 40+ years Max Creek has swung the pendulum from small, big, regionally-huge, medium, and any other size one can think of. They’ve never graced the cover of Rolling Stone, but you’d be hard pressed to find a music fan worth their salt who hasn’t heard of them. Creek exudes confidence but lacks ego. Each member is an incredible musician but that’s never been what it was about. That’s why we love them, and keep bringing them back to Vibes.

RyAn MontbleAu bAnD – The music of the Ryan Montbleau Band is as warm and invigorating as sunshine breaking through on a cloudy day. The quintet has been a Vibes mainstay for eight years and it’s soulful, acoustic roots rock and Americana is powered by the combination of singer-songwriter Ryan Montbleau’s guitar and vocals; the driving rhythms of percussionist Yahuba Garcia-Torres, drummer James Cohen, and bassist Matt Giannaros; and keyboardist Jason Cohen and guitarist Lyle Brewer’s dynamic harmonies. RMB has certainly made a heartfelt connection with The Vibe Tribe and we’re happy to bring the band back again this year. lukAs NElsON & P.O.T.R. –To say Lukas was born to play music is an understatement. The sixth child of one of the most acclaimed and beloved music stars of all time, Willie Nelson, Lukas inherited his father’s musicality, his penchant for penning his own music, and his love of the road. With Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, his own songwriting craft and performance skills are being honed. The band - which includes drummer Anthony LoGerfo, percussionist Tato Melgar, and bassist Corey McCormick – hit the road in 2009 and we’re happy to welcome them to the VibeTribe family. WilD ADRiATiC – These rockers won our Sonicbids contest for their spot on the Main Stage, and we are excited for you to hear why we chose them. Wild Adriatic carries forth the torch of timeless rock ‘n’ roll infused with soul, powerful vocals, and an impressively tight rhythm section. The Saratoga Springs, NY trio released their latest EP Lock & Key in April 2012, and has garnered attention from music lovers, press, and industry heads alike. An energetic, honest live show has garnered the band grass roots fan bases in cities throughout the United States.MARley’S MuSiC upRiSinG ChAllenGe finAliSt - Marley’s Mellow Mood presents Marley’s Music Uprising, a competition looking for the next great band inspired by the musical icon Bob Marley. The bands in this competition were vetted by Cedella & Ky-mani Marley before being turned over to the fans for voting. The finalist will win a trip to Tuff Gong Studio in Kingston, Jamaica & have a chance to be produced by multiple grammy award winner Stephen Marley. Gathering of the Vibes is proud to showcase the third finalist in the Uprising challenge. Fans get to vote for the final winner on marley.sonicbids.com between Aug 5th - 25th 2013.ouR beloveD MASteR of CeReMonieS,WAvy GRAvy, is back for another year of cosmic cut-ups and geezerly good cheer. If you see Wavy Gravy walking his pet fish on the concert field, stop and say hello. He’s the real deal, and truly practices and lives the ‘60s idealism. Back when he was still known as Hugh Romney, he stood on the stage of the original Woodstock concert and announced, “What we have in mind is breakfast in bed for 400,000!” He was at Woodstock as a member of an entertainment/activist commune known as the Hog Farm. Today, Wavy and the Hog Farm still exist, and he is co-director of Camp Winnarainbow, a performing arts program for children that organizes all-star rock concerts to raise money for a variety of charitable causes, We are truly honored to have our brother Wavy Gravy with us once again as Emcee. Wavy, you are an inspiration to us all.

ThE NigEl hAll BAND – A Washington D.C. native, Nigel soaked in the sounds of Go-Go, funk and soul. His musical influences reach far beyond his years; from James Brown to Donny Hathaway. Whether he is leading his own band, performing solo, or fronting bands like Soulive and Lettuce, he instantly commands the attention of the audience. 2013 is shaping up to be Nigel’s breakout year. If you haven’t heard of Nigel Hall, you soon will! Get your campsite set-up early so you don’t miss his Thursday night set.

DAviD gANs – A David Gans “solo electric” performance is likely to consist of several elements; country-blues-style finger picking, loop-based improvisations, and sweetly sung ballads, original or covers. Also, Grateful Dead covers reinterpreted to suit his voice and guitar, wry observations of the music festival subculture and the larger world, and soulful & passionate political-commentary favorites from the folk rock cannon of the last 50 years. Mix and match, it’s never the same show twice but always worth a listen.

John SCofielD ubeRJAM– The legendary jazz guitarist and Berklee School of Music grad, often referred to as “Sco,” returns to the Vibes stage for the first time since 2005. This time around, he’ll be reuniting with the group that pioneered his fusing of jazz, funk and electronic music, documented on the Überjam recording. Throughout his career Scofield has punctuated his traditional jazz offerings with funk-oriented electric music while keeping an open musical mind.

ThE REvivAlisTs – We’re excited to welcome this new band to the Green Vibes stage, and think you’ll be impressed with their live performance. Since forming in 2007, The Revivalists have rightfully earned their reputation as the next breakout band from the music capital of New Orleans. The group’s blend of soulful, syncopated rock and earnest songwriting come to life through a meticulously crafted and ever-evolving live performance.

lORD huRON – Lord Huron began as a solo project by Michigan-born/Los Angeles-based musician Ben Schneider in the spring of 2010. On a trip home to Michigan, Schneider recorded three songs inspired by communing with nature. These songs were later released as the Into the Sun EP, and Lord Huron was born. At this point Schneider solidified his band lineup with childhood friends Mark Barry on drums, Brett Farkas on guitar, Miguel Briseno on bass, and Tom Renaud on guitar. This band brings an idyllic and blissful Cali-pop sound to the Vibes stage, and we’re proud to have them join us this year.

CoSMiC JibARoS – The Gathering of The Vibes is proud to present this talented, hometown latin rock band to the Green Vibes Stage. There’s an irresistible pull of traditional Afro-Caribbean beats, interplaying between the congas and timbales, mixed with urban elements in the deep drum and bass effects-laden guitar work. These songs are laced with social and political overtones, and are sung primarily in Spanish. Grab some coffee Saturday morning and start your day with Cosmic Jibaros.

TJAsON CROsBY BAND - As a young boy, Jason Crosby immersed himself in classical music, and was playing piano at a professional level at a very young age. He then took on the guitar, the viola, the French horn, and the trumpet, and pursued those instruments with equal vigor for many years. A multi-instrumentalist with extensive and varied musical pursuits, Crosby has previously been a member of such bands as Robert Randolph and the Family Band, Susan Tedeschi Band, and many others. We’re happy to bring Jason’s own project to the Green Vibes Stage.

TWiDDlE - Twiddle, a Vermont based quartet, spins tall tales over an intricate soundscape of hi-def shred. Their fresh multi-genre approach conjures up jazz, classical, and bluegrass, but above all, masterfully blends reggae and funk. Obliterating laws of improvisation, their complex arrangements never fail to leave crowds lusting for more. With sage songwriting and unmatched variety, Twiddle’s thrilling infancy will surely exceed all expectation.

vON gREY - Gathering of the Vibes is excited to bring you the delightful sounds of von Grey. With their soulful four-part harmonies, poetic lyrics and indelible melodies, it’s easy to see why the Atlanta Journal Constitution would hail von Grey as “nothing short of stunning.” Working in a vein similar to that of such contemporaries as The Civil Wars and Mumford & Sons, von Grey masterfully melds folk, bluegrass and country influences, imbuing time-honored musical idioms with a distinctly modern sensibility.

BAND TOgEThER CT - Founded by Rob Fried and Jerry Vigorito, Band Together CT has a vision to create community-minded musical events that raise your spirits and are fun to attend. Band Together CT events have helped raise over $975,000 for local charities and families. They have worked with Paul Newman and Meryl Streep to raise millions to protect Connecticut farmland. Awards include Citations of Honor from the US Congress, the Connecticut State Assembly, and CT Governor Rell for commitment to helping Connecticut families.

JiMkAtA - Jimkata is an electro-rock band blending heavy beats, synthy hooks, big guitars, and profound lyricism. Now touring to support their innovative, fan-funded record Die Digital, this Upstate New York based quartet has been tearing up the northeast club and theater circuit and playing to larger and larger crowds wherever it goes, based solely on word of mouth of its energetic live performances.

ThE kiND BuDs - The Kind Buds, New England’s Premier Jam Duo, entertain their audiences with inspiring covers & incendiary originals, trading fiery-sweet licks on a roller coaster of tension & release. A truly acoustic duo, Bud & Budd perform raucous, intuitive, and wide open jams with stunning guitar interplay. Tight vocal harmonies compliment and complete their sound. No effects of any kind are used in live performances. This August The Kind Buds celebrate nine years as a duo, and this Vibes performance may be their 600th show performed together. Awesome!

BORBOlETTA: A TRiBuTE TO sANTANA - The idea for this Santana Tribute Group began to come together after a show in early October 2012 when percussionist Johnny Durkin (DBB/Manchado), Cyrus Madan (Keys-DBB) and Tim Palmieri (Guitar-Kung Fu) had a warm up gig for a wedding. “At the last minute Adrian Tramontano (Kung Fu) had to sub on drums so we picked a Santana song to start the 2nd set, and that was it,” says Durkin. Over the years, Durkin became good friends with Yahuba Garcia-Torres (Ryan Montbleau Band), a fellow percussionist and devotee to Afro Cuban Music. Rich Zurkowski (Bass-Manchado, The Durkins) rounds out the line-up.“As far as performing at this years GOTV,” adds Durkin, “I can’t think of a better place for this idea to come to light. It’s very difficult to get all tour schedules to align, and we are excited for the opportunity to all come together at such a beautiful place, with fans like the VibeTribe.” sChOOl OF ROCk All-sTARs - Check out these incredible young performers from the School of Rock AllStars. The School of Rock believes that the best way to learn music is to play music. We take students from the lesson room to the stage, developing both their confidence and musicianship with programs designed for all skill levels. AllStars represent the best of the best students from School of Rock’s global network of schools. Each Summer, the AllStars embark on a tour complete with tour busses and multiple live shows throughout the country. We’re happy they are including a stop at the Vibes along the way.MuSiCAl GueSt bill evAnS: - Saxophonist Bill Evans first joined Miles Davis’ group in 1980 at the age of 22, and then went on to record six records and tour the world with Davis numerous times over a four-year period. He then toured and recorded three CDs with John McLaughlin and the Mahavishnu Orchestra, and later played with Herbie Hancock, Lee Ritenour, Dave Grusin, Steps Ahead and Mick Jagger, among others, garnering a few Grammy Awards along the way. Is it obvious to you why we chose “the sax man” as our festival wide musical guest this year? Look for Bill during your favorite jams, and let us know where you want to see him next!

CONsiDER ThE sOuRCE - NYC trio Consider the Source defy easy description. If intergalactic beings of pure energy, after initiation into an order of whirling dervishes, built some kind of pan-dimensional booty-shaking engine, powered by psychedelics and abstract math, it’d probably just sound like a CTS tribute band. Dubbed “Sci-Fi Middle Eastern Fusion”, the band’s music strikes a rare balance between cerebral and emotional, intellectual and primal. A relentless touring schedule has won the band a fervent following from California to Israel, with fans ranging from jam-band hippies and jazz cats to corpse-painted headbangers and prog geeks. Did we tell you they’re one of the bands who won the Road to the Vibes contest?

PAPADOsiO – Melding progressive rock with psychedelia, folk with electronica, and dance music with jam, Papadosio has amassed a dedicated following of thousands of likeminded individuals sowing the seeds of unity and spreading the sounds of exaltation. Singer-songwriter Anthony Thogmartin’s visionary lyrics, eclectic production, and signature guitar work are anchored by the rock solid battery of drummer Mike Healy and bassist Rob McConnell. The quintet is rounded out by brothers Billy and Sam Brouse, whose virtuosic two-headed keyboard, synth, and programming attack give the band its unmistakable complexity and intensity.

DEEP BANANA BlACkOuT – But of course, we’re thrilled bring you another funk throw down from our hometown heroes DBB. This eight piece musical outfit is notorious for performing compositions ranging from Tower of Power, Sly and the Family Stone, James Brown, and Parliament. Funkadelic. With a full horn section and a soulful, funky groove, DBB’s infectious sound is a combination of old school funk, Latin salsa, jazz , and rock music.

kuNg Fu – Proud to be firmly installed in the new-funk movement, KUNG FU is quickly popularizing their unique sonic contribution, blurring the line between intense electro-fusion, and blistering dance arrangements. Making fusion music “cool” again, the band draws on influences such as early Headhunters and Weather Report, and merges those ideas with a contemporary EDM informed sensibility. Imagine 70’s funk-fusion meets a modern dance party! Kung Fu features Tim Palmieri (guitar), Robert Somerville (tenor sax), Todd Stoops (keyboards), Chris DeAngelis (bass guitar), and Adrian Tramontano (drums/percussion). The powerhouse quintet’s live show has been described by critics and fans alike as “lethal funk”, “explosive”, “jaw dropping”, and “musically mesmerizing”.

JAMeS MuRphy (DfA/lCD SounDSySteM) - There’s no denying the evolution of Electronic Dance Music (EDM), and its effect on a current generation of music fans. One of the bigger artists or bands with an influence on that generation is LCD SOUNDSYSTEM. Long a fixture of the downtown NYC music scene, James Murphy co-founded the DFA label, which released the LCD Soundsystem catalogue and whose current roster includes The Rapture, Holy Ghost!, YACHT, the Juan Maclean, Planningtorock and more. Come see what all the fuss is about. You won’t be disappointed.

Rob GARzA (thieveRy CoRpoRAtion) -His two-man band, Thievery Corporation, has been one of the most acclaimed indie bands over the last 10 years, mining elements of dub, acid jazz, reggae and bossa nova, among other styles. We’re thrilled to have Rob join us at the Vibes this year for what promises to be an enchanting performance for certain. As one half of electronic music pioneers/producers Thievery Corporation, he has been at the forefront of music for over a decade and a half, traveling the globe performing, remixing, djing, recording and composing.

Tribal Seeds’ musical talent and authentic sound has brought them to the forefront of the reggae rock genre, as their art form has reached people of all ages across the United States, and worldwide. This is their first time playing Vibes, and we hope the first of many more to come.

AnDy the MuSiC MAn - Andy “The Music Man” Morse is a Vibes favorite, and popular children’s musician renowned for the special way he connects with his audiences. MClovinS – McLovins specialize in the creation of dynamic and improvised sound, influenced by the members’ disparate and eclectic musical influences. Set list segues and fiery improvisations are a staple of the band’s performances, keeping their audience always guessing what’s coming next and wanting more!

FishBONE – Celebrating 25 groundbreaking years, Fishbone has been trailblazing their way through the history of American Ska, Funk, Punk, Rock Fusion and “Black Rock” since starting their professional career in the Alt Rock Los Angeles scene of the mid-1980s. Their sound has often been imitated, but never duplicated. The current line up includes original members Angelo Moore aka Dr. Madd Vibe (vocals/sax/theramin), Norwood Fisher (bass/vocals), Dirty Walt (trumpet, vocals), as well as Rocky George (guitar), Dre Gipson (keyboards/vocals), John Steward (drums), and Jay Armant (trombone, vocals). Show the love, VibeTribe!

Steve kiMoCk feAtuRinG beRnie WoRell & fRienDS Combining Steve Kimock, one of the leading improvisational guitarists around, with Bernie Worrell, co-founding keyboardist of Parliament/Funkadelic (and a performer with Talking Heads) delivers synergistic funky music, along with inspiring soulful sounds. The School of Rock Teen Vibes Stage performance-based approach to music lessons results in students who are more inspired to learn, more motivated to excel, and more confident to perform.

Each year, School of Rock’s most talented students (approximately the top 2%) from their nationwide network of schools audition to become part of their highly coveted Allstars Program. Trust us when we say you HAVE TO SEE THESE KIDS. They are exceptional.

We are also spotlighting area School of Rock programs each day. These are kids from Boston to Philly who make the trek to Vibes to perform. They are also amazing, and if you long for something that “feels like rock ’n’ roll,” look no further than these young musicians. In addition, we proudly host the following talented acts on the School of Rock Teen Vibes Stage.

pAMAlibRouS - Pamalibros is a middle and high school band based in Redding and Westport, CT. Members include, Zach Schur on Bass, Drew Sennett on Keys, Andrew Schur on Guitar, Brennan Prusak on Drums and Ian Goodman on Vocals.

BOBBY PAlTAuF - Bobby Paltauf is a 13-year-old blues/rock guitarist and singer. His influences are The Allman Brothers Band, Duane Allman, Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Tedeschi Trucks Band, Gov’t Mule, SRV, Jimi Hendrix, and Anders Osborne.

FRONT ROW - Front Row is Lydia on vocals and keyboard, Kevin on guitar, Eumir on Bass, and Robbie on Drums. They met in Riverside via Institute of Rock, and have been playing together now for 18 months, have produced a CD of covers, and are preparing to go back to the recording studio as Eumir, their songwriter, has written five originals.

NiCk DEPuY - Graduated senior from New Cannan High School who is already a seasoned performer. He says of songwriting, “I usually take an experience or insight that I’ve learned from life and put it into a fictional context. A lot of my songs have elements that are put in for poetic effect, but the emotions and observations are real. I had a lot of insecurities and poured those demons into my songs and that’s what it translated into.”

RAnfoRD AlMonD - 11 Year-old Ranford Almond will capture your attention after the first note. This Greensboro, NC native is new to Gathering of the Vibes, but we’re confident this will be the first of many performances.

ADJusTiNg TO liFE - Five piece, all-girl, teen band from Greenwich, CT. Each member of Adjusting To Life has a different style of music- punk, grunge, classic rock, pop punk, alternative and acoustic rock…all of these music genres blended into one as each person is Adjusting To Life!

the ReMnAntS - The Remnants - Josh Lopez, Jeanine Pray, David Loturco, and Tim Andrew - have all come from different corners of the music industry, but that is what makes their music so unique. Although many of the band members are still young, they have found themselves performing at venues like the famous Municipal Stadium and the Webster Theater, and we welcome them back for their third year at Gathering of the Vibes.
