1. Current situation

Information on market surveillance authorities is available in more than 30 countries– European Commission

• General: contact information for MSAs in 30 countries (+ legislative reference, sector, person in charge, etc.)

NOTE: many different ways of reporting• Atex: contact information for MSAs in 31 countries

– EASC/secretariat• Information for 7 countries (5 CIS countries, Brazil and Switzerland)NOTE: template respected, but not fit for a database

– Simply merge existing documents– Provide coherence

NOTE: inputs are all different and there will be many N/AQUESTION: is it really an improvement?

3.b) Building a database1. Prototype database

1. Countries: BLR, BRA, CHY2. Available search criteria

• Country• Authority (which categories?)• Sector (which categories?)• Legislative references (useful for EU, but not for non-EU)

2. Issues– What is needed? Which search criteria are useful to users?– Who defines categories? When? At what pace?

Example of a typology for economic activities– If WP.6 needs to recollect information, it might need to prepare a

new template: proposal on how to proceed?
