New MCC Peace Education Coordinator: Jes Stoltzfus Buller was recently named the Peace Education Coordinator for Mennonite Central Committee U.S. For the past almost eight years, Jes has lived in Colombia, South America, where she worked with MCC’s Anabaptist partner organization on the Caribbean Coast, Sembrandopaz (Sowing Peace). Her work included community development, nonviolent training and regional peacebuilding. Jes is currently living in Goshen, IN, and working out of the MCC Great Lakes office. In the next year, she will be traveling around the country and is very interested in visiting churches and groups to share about her work and

experiences in Colombia, and/or to listen to your congregation's thoughts on what MCC’s peace program might focus on in this current context of division and violence. For more information about setting up a visit, please contact MCC Great Lakes at 574-534-4133, or email Jes directly at [email protected]. The youth group will be trying out a new leadership model for 2016-2017. Scott and Allison T will continue to serve as leaders for the group, planning activities in collaboration with the Christian Education committee. The role of youth group chaperone is a new position created for the coming year. Chaperones will attend youth group events throughout the year, providing an extra hand and getting to know the youth. Any adult member of CMF interested in serving as a chaperone this year will need to attend the Safe Sanctuary training after church on August 28. To inquire or express interest in becoming a chaperone, please contact Alli-son at [email protected]. Thank you for supporting our youth! Ladies, save the date for Women's Retreat at Camp Friedenswald, September 16-18! This year's theme is Gather Around the Table: Nourishing Body and Soul, a weekend of conversations about faith and food. Speakers Katie Kuntz-Wineland (a seminarian and student minister) and Beth Kuntz-Wineland (a certified plant-based chef) will guide us deep into reflection about holistic wellness as a spiritual practice. Inspired by three of our favorite cookbooks (More with Less, Simply in Season, and Extending the Table), we will ask questions about living simply, embracing the seasons, and practicing hospitality.
