But where there are prophecies, they will cease; where there are tongues, they will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy will be stilled; where there is knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked in part, but when completeness comes, what is in part disappears. When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I put the ways of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face of childhood behind me. For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. And now these three to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known. Pastoral Prayer Sarah Chancellor-WatsonSarah Chancellor-Watson

Your love is patient;we give you thanks for all those who have been patient with usand have taught and cared for us;and we pray for the patience to love others as you have loved us.

Your love is kind;give us the courage to be kind to others and to serve those with patiencewho are so often unkind, rude, difficult to love, or our enemies. They are your children and our sisters and brothers and they were made in your image.

Your love is not pompous;give us insight to speak the truth in loveand for the sake of your kingdomand not out of a need to appear clever or rightand in all our relationships give us the wisdom to listen far more than we speak.(cont.)(cont.)

Your love does not seek its own interests;we thank you and pray for those who serve the poor and those in need, who give tirelessly of themselvesand who have much to do and little time for themselves.

Your love is not quick-tempered;we pray for those who are angry and for the violent and their victims;for children who fear, elders who are abused, and people trapped in relationships that injure and harm.

Your love bears all things;we remember before you those with heavy burdens, many cares, much stress, and too little comfort and help.Open our eyes to those around us and their needsand give us the wisdom to offer help without any prying or sense of superiority.

Your love never fails;even death does not trespass on the breadth and depth of your love.We thank you for those we have loved in this lifeand who now dwell in the peace and joy of your presenceand let your comfort settle on those who are bereaved or who are lonely this day.

The Lord’s Prayer Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name. Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed by thy name.thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;Give us this day our daily bread; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors;and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen. For thine is the kingdom and the power, and the glory, forever. Amen.

“Just Mercy” Film Viewing & DiscussionWednesday, July 8 | 6:30-8:30 pm

If you have not already, we invite you to view the 2019 film Just Mercy in advance of our Zoom film discussion this Wednesday. Our discussion will focus on the themes and subject matter of racial justice brought up in the film.

Just Mercy tells the true story of the first case of long-time civil rights ad-vocate Bryan Stevenson, who in the late 1980s became the head of Al-abama’s Equal Justice Initiative right after graduating from Harvard Law School. Seeking to overturn the falsely obtained conviction of Walter Mc-Millian, the African American lawyer runs up against a thoroughly racist jus-tice system, starting with the police, the district attorney, the prison guards and the judges. Only by a persistence like the widow in Jesus’ “Parable of the Widow and the Unjust Judge” does Stevenson emerge victorious at last.
