Call to Worship Psalm 23 (KJV) UMH 754
(sung response TFWS 2058)
Shepherd me, O God,beyond my wants, beyond my fears,
from death into life.
The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.
He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.
He restoreth my soul:he leadeth me in the paths of
righteousness for his name’s sake.Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil: for thou art with me;thy rod and thy staff
they comfort me.
Shepherd me, O God,beyond my wants, beyond my fears,
from death into life.
Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.
Shepherd me, O God,beyond my wants, beyond my fears,
from death into life.
Hymn of Praise to the Triune GodThe King of Love My Shepherd Is
UMH 138 (stanzas 1, 2, 5, 6)
The King of love my shepherd is,whose goodness faileth never.
I nothing lack if I am his,and he is mine forever.
Where streams of living water flow,my ransomed soul he leadeath;
and where the verdant pastures grow,
with food celestial feedeth.
Thou spreadest a table in my sight;thy unction grace bestoweth;
and oh, what transport of delightfrom thy pure chalice floweth!
And so through all the length of days,
thy goodness faileth never;Good Shepherd,
may I sing thy praisewithin thy house forever.
Opening Prayer The Lord be with you.
And also with you.Let us pray.
O God, whose son Jesus is the good
shepherd of your people:Grant that when we hear his voice
we may know himwho calls us each by name,and follow where he leads;
who, with you and the Holy Spirit,
lives and reigns, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

Scripture Lesson Acts 2.42-47 (CEB)
The believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, to the
community, to their shared meals, and to their prayers. A sense of awe came over everyone. God performed
many wonders and signs through the apostles. All the believers were
united and shared everything. They would sell pieces of property and possessions and distribute the proceeds to everyone who needed them. Every day, they met together
in the temple and ate in their homes. They shared food with gladness
and simplicity. They praised God and demonstrated God’s goodness to everyone. The Lord added daily to the community those who were
being saved.
Gospel LessonJohn 10:1-10 (CEB)
I assure you that whoever doesn’t enter into the sheep pen through the gate but climbs over the wall is a thief and an outlaw. The one
who enters through the gate is the shepherd of the sheep. The guard at the gate opens the gate for him,
and the sheep listen to his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out. Whenever he has gathered all of his sheep, he goes before them and they follow him,
because they know his voice. They won’t follow a stranger but will
run away because they don’t know the stranger’s voice.” Those who
heard Jesus use this analogy didn’t understand what he was saying.
So Jesus spoke again, “I assure you that I am the gate of the sheep.
All who came before me were thieves and outlaws, but the sheep didn’t listen to them. I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved. They will come in and go out
and find pasture. The thief enters
only to steal, kill, and destroy. I came so that they could have life—indeed, so that they could live life to
the fullest.

DoxologyGather Us In
TFWS 2236 (stanza 4)
Not in the dark of buildings confining, not in some heaven,
light-years away, but here in this place
the new light is shining, now is the Kingdom, now is the day.
Gather us in and hold us forever, gather us in and make us your own; gather us in - all peoples together,
fire of love in our flesh and our bone.
