Call to WorshipMake Me a Servant
TFWS 2176Bruce Nesmith, Song Leader
Make me a servant, humble and meek,Lord, let me lift up
those who are weak. And may the prayer
of my heart always be:Make me a servant, make me a servant,
make me a servant today.
+ Hymn of Praise to the Triune GodLord, Whose Love
Through Humble ServiceUMH 581
Lord, whose love through humble service bore the weight of human need, who upon the cross, forsaken, offered mercy’s perfect deed: we, your servants, bring the
worship not of voice alone, but heart, consecrating to your
purpose every gift that you impart.
Still your children wander homeless; still the hungry cry
for bread; still the captives long for freedom; still in grief we mourn
our dead. As, O Lord, your deep compassion healed the sick and freed the soul, use the love your
Spirit kindles still to save and make us whole.

As we worship, grant us vision, till your love’s revealing light in
its height and depth and greatness dawns upon our quickened sight,
making known the needs and burdens your compassion bids us bear, stirring us to tireless striving
your abundant life to share.
Called by worship to your service, forth in your dear name we go to
the child, the youth, the aged, love in living deeds to show;
hope and health, good will and comfort, counsel, aid, and peace
we give, that your servants, Lord, in freedom may
your mercy know, and live.
+ Opening Prayer
The Lord be with you.And also with you.
Let us pray.God, like a bakerwoman,
you bring the leaven which causes our hopes to rise.
With your strong and gentle hands, shape our lives.
Warm us with your love. Take our common lives
and touch them with your grace, that we may nourish
hope among humanity. We pray trusting in your name
through Jesus our Christ. Amen.

Gospel Lessons Matthew 20:26b-28 (CEB)
Whoever wants to be great among you will be your servant. Whoever wants to be first among you will be
your slave— just as the Human One didn’t come to be served but rather
to serve and to give his life to liberate many people.”
Sung Response The Servant Song
TFWS 2222 (stanzas 1 & 2)
Brother, sister, let me serve you, let me be as Christ to you;
pray that I may have the grace to let you be my servant, too.
We are pilgrims on a journey. We’re together on this road.
We are here to help each other walk the mile and bear the load.
Matthew 25:37-40 (CEB)
“Then those who are righteous will reply to him, ‘Lord, when
did we see you hungry and feed you, or thirsty and give you a drink? When did we see you as a stranger
and welcome you, or naked and give you clothes to wear? When did we see you sick or in prison and visit you?’
“Then the king will reply to them, ‘I assure you that when you have
done it for one of the least of these brothers and sisters of mine, you
have done it for me.’
Sung Response The Servant Song
TFWS 2222 (stanzas 3 & 4)
I will hold the Christ light for you in the nighttime of your fear;
I will hold my hand out to you, speak the peace you long to hear.
I will weep when you are weeping; when you laugh,
I’ll laugh with you. I will share your joy and sorrow till we’ve
seen this journey through.

The Peace
The Great ThanksgivingTFWS 2257 (b, c, d)
one: The Lord be with you.
all: And also with you. one: Lift up your hearts.
all: We lift them up to the Lord. one: Let us give thanks
to the Lord our God. all: It is right to give
our thanks and praise. It is right, and a good and joyful thing, always and everywhere to
give thanks to you Almighty God, creator of heaven and earth.
You created us, unique, human creatures, created to love and to be loved, created to seek relationship
with you and one another. We give thanks to you for your
gift of those we love and those who love us, especially those in covenant
relationship with us, who embody your presence to us in many
and holy ways.
And so, with your people on earth and all the company of heaven
we praise your name and join their unending hymn:
Holy, holy, holy Lord, God of power and might
heaven and earth are full of your glory.
Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
Blest is the one who comes in the name of the Lord.Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
Holy are you, and blessed is your Son Jesus the Christ.
By the baptism of his suffering, death, and resurrection,
you gave birth to your Church, delivered us from slavery
to sin and death, and made with us a new covenant
by water and the Spirit.
And, through him, you showed us a new way to be in relationship
with you and with each other,to care for one another as well
as the stranger. On the night in which he gave
himself up for us, he took bread, gave thanks to you, broke the bread,
gave it to his disciples, and said: “Take, eat; this is my body which
is given for you. Do this in remembrance of me,”
When the supper was over, he took the cup, gave thanks to you, gave it
to his disciples, and said: “Drink from this, all of you; this is my blood of the new
covenant, poured out for you and for many for the forgiveness of sins.
Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”
And so, in remembrance of these your mighty acts in Jesus Christ,
we offer ourselves in praise and thanksgiving as a holy and living sacrifice, in union with Christ’s
offering for us, as we proclaim the mystery of faith.
Christ has died, Christ is risen;
Christ will come again.Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
Pour out your Holy Spirit on us gathered here,
and on these gifts of bread and wine. Make them be for us the body
and blood of Christ, that we may be for the world the
body of Christ, redeemed by his blood.
By your Spirit make us one with Christ, one with each other, and one in ministry to all
the world, until Christ comes in final victory
and we feast at his heavenly banquet.
Through your Son Jesus Christ, with the Holy Spirit in your Holy
Church, all honor and glory is yours, almighty Father, now and forever.
Amen. Amen. Amen. Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest! Hosanna in the highest!
The Lord’s Prayer
Our Father, who art in heaven, hallowed be thy name.
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth
as it is in heaven.
Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom, and the power,
and the glory, forever.Amen.

Communion SongsYe Servants of God
UMH 181 (stanzas 1 & 3)
Ye servants of God, your Master proclaim, and publish abroad his wonderful name; the name
all-victorious of Jesus extol, his kingdom is glorious
and rules over all.
“Salvation to God, who sits on the throne!” Let all cry aloud and honor the Son; the praises of Jesus the angels proclaim, fall down on their faces and
worship the Lamb.We All Are One in MissionTFWS 2243 (stanzas 1 & 2)
We all are one in mission; we all are one in call,
our varied gifts united by Christ, the Lord of all.A single great commission
compels us from aboveto plan and work together
that all may know Christ’s love.
We all are called for service, to witness in God’s name.
Our ministries are different; our purpose is the same:
To touch the lives of others by God’s surprising grace,
so every folk and nation may feel God’s warm embrace.
